As a key member of the D2L.com web development team you will be responsible for developing and maintaining an engaging brand presence on the web. Our website is a fundamental part of D2L’s marketing plans, and you will help shape that experience. We’re looking for a team oriented, self-starting individual that has a thirst for new challenges. Job Summary:

As a key member of the D2L.com web development team you will be responsible for developing and maintaining an engaging brand presence on the web. Our website is a fundamental part of D2L’s marketing plans, and you will help shape that experience. We’re looking for a team oriented, self-starting individual that has a thirst for new challenges. You will make data driven decisions to help improve our sites experience to ensure optimal market impact. 

How will I make an impact? 

  • Write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices 
  • Collaborate with a team of designers, marketers and developers to bring concepts to life using cutting-edge technologies 
  • Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs 
  • Maintain, expand, and scale our sites 
  • Optimize site for speed, scalability and SEO 
  • Assist in troubleshooting code and compatibility issues across different browsers and platforms 
  • Stay plugged into emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them to operations and activities, and share them with the team 

What you'll bring to the role:

  • 3 – 5 years’ experience building highly engaging and interactive Wordpress websites.
  • Besides English you speak fluent JavaScript, CSS, HTML and SQL to any browser, and you do it all responsively
  • You use workflow tools and continuous integration for areas in your life that others haven’t thought about. And post your life hacks as NPM packages for others to use.
  • You take pride in making clean and readable code, with a focus on making it bug free and optimized for speed, scalability and reliability
  • WordPress theme and/or Plugin development
  • You’re a world class juggler, with an ability to keep multiple projects in the air at the same time (actual juggling would also be an asset)
  • Analytical and critical thinking are your forte and you use those powers along with a keen eye to find bugs and troubleshoot tough challenges
  • You thrive in a deadline driven environment and seek out opportunities to work with others to create the best solutions possible
  • Ability to assemble and appreciate complex LEGO integration systems without compromising other project deadlines

Assets:

  • Photoshop; slicing and basic manipulations for implementation in code 
  • An awareness of Web and Accessibility Standards 
  • Understanding the importance of User Experience & User Interface with examples of where you have implemented this understanding
  • Mobile web and application development using modern frameworks like React and Vue.JS
  • Proficient in website statistics software and data analysis

Education Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or a related field
