As a third-year engineering student, our founder, John Baker, challenged himself to find the most important problem he could solve that would have the biggest impact on the world.
Inspired by his own family of educators and experiences, John was struck by an idea as he walked across campus: learning is the foundation for progress. He realized that the impact of work in this area would have a ripple effect from one person to the next through generations, communities, companies, and cultures. With that clear vision, John founded D2L with a goal to help millions and potentially billions of learners. More than 20 years later, John’s vision is thriving within a global company that believes everyone should have access to the best possible learning opportunities.
