The Instructional Designer is responsible for assisting with the planning, research, development and creation of course content as part of the content publishing team at D2L. The Instructional Designer works as part of a team to design and build content for various projects tied creating content to include as part of the LMS at D2L. The Instructional Designer collaborates with the media, copy editing, quality assurance and other stakeholder teams to ensure that content is high quality, aligned to best practices, and presented in innovative and engaging ways.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Instructional Designer is responsible for assisting with the planning, research, development and creation of course content as part of the content publishing team at D2L. The Instructional Designer works as part of a team to design and build content for various projects tied creating content to include as part of the LMS at D2L. The Instructional Designer collaborates with the media, copy editing, quality assurance and other stakeholder teams to ensure that content is high quality, aligned to best practices, and presented in innovative and engaging ways.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Assist with planning, coordinating, researching, and developing content to ensure accuracy, quality and compliance with curriculum guidelines, training expectations, or other applicable requirements.

  • Compare and create content following any applicable standards and requirements to ensure compliance/accuracy
  • Assist with the design and production of curriculum, training, and course materials
  • Research and review educational/curriculum policies and other applicable guidelines
  • Research and implement innovative ways to present content and ensure quality course appearance
  •  

Participate in writing, reviewing, and developing respective courses.

  • Ensure consistency across content/courses/disciplines in terms of instructional design/approach, based on project requirements
  • Assist with the design and production of content and supporting materials
  • Create exams, tests, and assessment questions following client expectations, as well as any other applicable guidelines
  •  

Participate in the technical development work within respective projects or tasks.

  • Create and develop content using course development tools
  • Coordinate/resolve technical issues that may come up from content review or review from copy editorsResearch and develop interactive content activities
  • Assist with integration of online content into areas such as the Brightspace LMS dropbox, gradebook, quizzes, discussions, or other features
  • Collaborate with multimedia team to include animations, graphics, and videos within courses. Duties might include: video script writing, preparation for audio recordings, graphic mock-ups, making media requests, being present for video recordings, requesting revisions to videos or other media

Work effectively as part of a team to meet timelines, targets, and fulfill project requirements.

  • Communicate openly and clearly with team members
  • Ensure that collaboration and open communication are a priority
  • Take initiative to bring up new ideas, solve problems, and address issues
  • Work effectively as part of a team to adapt to changing demands of projects, and ensure that the content development process runs smoothly

Perform related duties as required and continuously seek process improvements.
