IMS Global Learning Consortium Certification

All good vendors allow integration and interoperability, but standards certification is important too—they are a great way for institutions to independently verify interoperability. It’s an important part of assessing your vendors’ commitment to openness and avoids surprise costs or long-term lock-ins.

We are committed to open standards, which allow our customers to integrate necessary administrative tools, and teaching and learning tools to seamlessly create richer experiences. David Koehn, our Senior Vice President of Product Management, was elected to a three-year term on the IMS Global Consortium Board of Directors. We also have award-winning D2L staff involved in project groups and product steering committees to help define, implement, and encourage acceptance of standards.

Our Certifications

D2L’s Brightspace platform helps you deliver a personalized learning experience for anyone, no matter where they are. We continue to lead the industry in number of certifications held with IMS Global, and were the first commercial LMS to be certified for IMS Learning Information Services (LIS), only days after conformance tests were finalized.

About IMS Global Learning Consortium

IMS Global Learning Consortium is a nonprofit organization comprising over 570 leading suppliers, higher education institutions, K-12 districts and schools, and government organizations working in partnership to enable better teaching and learning. The IMS open architecture and extensive ecosystem of EdTech products enable education institutions to be more innovative, provide a more seamless user experience, and reduce the cost of integrating products into educational enterprise systems.

Why is IMS certification important?

The IMS community-developed and governed certification process takes the guesswork out of product interoperability to help institutions achieve a seamless, plug-and-play digital learning ecosystem.

Participation in the IMS Global certification process is a great way to achieve product integrations. For institutions, ensuring that your educational technology tools are IMS Global certified is an ideal way to establish a plug-and-play ecosystem, allowing your tools and content to work together seamlessly, giving you more choice, and reducing your total cost of ownership.
