Press Release
D2L, a global learning technology company, has been named a 2023 winner of a Canadian HR Reporter Innovative HR Teams Award. Today’s award comes on the heels of a February 2023 Human Resources Director Canada Innovative HR Teams Award win.
“I’m proud of my team and the culture of innovation, inclusivity and growth that is fostered at D2L,” said Yvonne Bell, SVP of People and Culture at D2L. “I’d like to thank the people at Canadian HR Reporter and Human Resources Director Canada for recognizing the innovative work our People and Culture team does to attract talent and support employees at all stages of their career journey.”
Canadian HR Reporter’s (“CCHR”) Innovative HR Teams 2023 report recognizes companies that are breaking boundaries to move the HR profession forward — whether it’s by taking a progressive approach to recruitment, introducing new technology, or rolling out a ground-breaking reward and recognition strategy. Nominations focused on 2022 initiatives, including talent management, diversity and inclusion, health and wellness, and HR technology. The CHRR team objectively assessed each entry for detailed information, true innovation and proven success — along with benchmarking against the other entries — to determine the winners.
D2L’s People and Culture team was nominated for its innovative, agile and forward-thinking approach to hiring practices, talent management and employee engagement. Some of these progressive approaches include implementing a texting service to keep in touch with candidates and providing dispositioned candidates with face-to-face feedback. The Talent Acquisition team also developed a D2L Alumni Program: a dedicated space to maintain strong connections with D2Lers who have left to pursue new endeavors.
This award comes on the heels of its February 2023 Human Resources Director Canada Innovative HR Teams Award win. D2L’s People and Culture team was ranked against three categories: taking a progressive approach to recruitment, introducing new technology, and rolling out a ground-breaking reward and recognition strategy. D2L recognizes employee milestones through its Bravo Recognition Program, D2L’s Variable Incentive Plan (VIP) and Monthly “D2L-iversary” celebrations. D2L is also committed to supporting employee learning and development through its innovative learning and development program, Catch the Wave, an internal roll-out of its Wave platform offering. This program encourages D2L employees to make personal development a priority with a non-taxable benefit and dedicated paid days off to use towards their studies.
Over the past decade, D2L’s People and Culture team has earned notable recognition for its talent programs 53 times, including: Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work 2022, Talent Board’s Candidate Experience CandE award (2019-2022), Canada’s Top Employers for Young People (2012-2014, 2018-2023), Waterloo Area’s Top Employers (2011-2023), Canada’s Best Employers for Recent Graduates (2019-2023), Canada’s Best Workplace Culture (2022), Canada’s Best Diversity Employers (2023), Human Resources Director’s 5-Star Benefits Programs (2022), Canadian HR’s Best Workplace Culture (2022, 2023) and an Excellence Awardee in Diversity & Inclusion (2021, 2022), and was named one of Waterstone Human Capital’s Most Admired Canadian Corporate Cultures (2017, 2020).
