When I joined D2L as a Business & Operations Analyst Co-op during the summer of 2025, I wanted to understand how a leading edtech company turns ideas into impact. As a student, I am eager to see how data and collaboration drive innovation inside an organization that helps millions of people reach their potential. What I did not expect was how deeply D2L’s mission of transforming the way the world learns would extend to the people who work there, especially students like me.
From the beginning, I was encouraged to think beyond my job title. My team trusted me to take ownership of projects that had a real impact across the business. I worked on developing automated templates that streamlined internal operations, helping teams save time, and focus on strategic goals. I collaborated with people across multiple departments and had the chance to see how every part of the company connects through a shared commitment to learning and innovation.
What stood out most during my co-op was the culture. D2L does not just create learning tools; it truly lives the value of continuous learning. Every project, meeting, and conversation reflected that mindset. My managers took the time to mentor me, ask for my perspective, and provide feedback that helped me grow as both a professional and a person. They encouraged me to take initiative and think creatively, which made every day an opportunity to contribute and improve.
As a student, it was empowering to be part of an environment that values curiosity just as much as expertise. The company’s culture promotes initiative and growth while reinforcing that learning never stops. It is part of how D2L operates each day and part of how it helps every employee reach their potential.
By the end of my term, I realized that D2L is not only an edtech company, but also a community built around the belief that learning drives progress. My experience as a co-op student was more than professional development. It showed me how an organization can live its mission by investing in students, giving them opportunities to grow, and trusting them to make a real impact.
