D2L Lumi
D2L Lumi made a major impact at Fusion 2024. Since its launch, it has helped educators create high-quality, personalized learning experiences with ease. This year, we’re enhancing D2L Lumi with new features and capabilities to boost learner engagement and streamline course creation for educators:
- Lumi Study Support turns a flat listing of right-and-wrong quiz results into an intelligent, context-aware guide to help fill gaps in understanding. “Instead of the quiz being the end of the learning process, it helps learners learn even more,” said Jack Pinette, vice president, product strategy at D2L.
- Lumi Insights gives instructors immediate insight into learner behavior on quizzes to pinpoint when, where and how they could benefit from support.

- Lumi Tutor is an intelligent teaching and learning chat that’s integrated into course content to deliver in-the-moment assistance on everything from due dates, assignment instructions, personalized practice questions, tailored study plans and more. “This lets Lumi Tutor act as a cognitive coach to provide real-time support, helping guide and empower every learner along their journey.” Dr. Ford continued, “That matters because learning is most effective when people feel secure and supported throughout the process.”
- Lumi Feedback helps instructors streamline the grading process by generating text and rubric feedback based on their notes—preserving authenticity and accuracy. “Like other D2L Lumi capabilities, this provides a huge speed boost, but it still asks the instructor to review and approve,” said Pinette.
Createspace
Repositories have become essential for storing, sharing and reusing content, but the inability to create or edit directly within them has been a limitation.
“We asked ourselves, what if there was a space built not just for sharing but for creating? A dedicated hub where you could author and edit content—whether it’s a single file, a page, an assignment or even an entire source course. Imagine being able to organize your work into folders and share them with others, so you can collaborate in real time, co-develop assets and build better learning experiences together,” said Lindsay Shipman, director, release and product enablement at D2L.
Createspace is designed to bring that vision to life. It equips educators with intuitive tools to create, edit and collaborate on content in one place before publishing it to learners, even across multiple courses.

Createspace is currently in beta to Creator+ customers and will be available to all D2L Brightspace users later this year.
D2L Academy
D2L Academy is a centralized learning hub that provides educators with a broad suite of resources to empower educators, administrators and learning leaders. “It isn’t just another training portal,” said Imran Ahmed, vice president product marketing at D2L. “We’ve built learning experiences curated to your specific role, so you can join a learning path designed to help you master your skills and advance your expertise.”
With more than 40 courses, expert-led live sessions, and industry-recognized certifications and support, D2L Academy helps unlock the full potential of Brightspace.
Brightspace Core
We’re continually enhancing our Brightspace learning platform to deliver better experiences for educators, administrators and learners alike. This year, we’re excited to unveil a suite of new features, including:
- enhanced assessments that help make it easier and faster for instructors to navigate through submissions, deliver feedback in bulk, use filters to analyze results, set due dates for discussions and more
- expanded enrollment capacity—increasing the group size limit from 200 to 3,000 learners—and providing educators with improved filters to tailor groups
- strengthened progress and skill tracking via Profession Path, making it easier for employees to identify and track their upskilling goals
- updates to employee learning, with a flexible UX design that empowers organizations to deliver structured, repeatable learning at scale and integrate with HR systems
- improved visibility for parents and guardians by allowing educators to communicate effectively through the class list, announcements and templated emails
We also introduced the much-anticipated Print Quiz. This will allow educators to print quizzes exactly as they created them—including variations for randomized questions and answer keys—boosting quiz value and accessibility for learners.
With the latest enhancements to D2L Brightspace, we’re giving educators even more powerful tools to unlock the full potential of every learner. From expanding group capacity to launching Print Quiz and improving assessment workflows, we’re making it easier for educators to deliver accessible, future-ready education at scale. H5P
At Fusion 2024, we announced that D2L had acquired H5P group, a global leader in educational interactives that helps educators create engaging content for millions of learners around the world. This year, we’re excited to share several enhancements, designed to provide users with even more seamless and intuitive ways to build interactive, engaging learning experiences, including:
- multi-language support for Smart Import, powered by generative AI, that will allow educators to create interactives in 56 different languages
- a new visual, drag-and-drop layout builder that helps make it easier to combine text and multimedia content and maintain responsiveness across devices
- increased accessibility with new ARIA roles and improved keyboard navigation
- a redesigned native integration with Creator+ that will make H5P interactives available within Brightspace quizzes
Accessibility+
Over the years, we’ve worked to increase equity in education and remove barriers learners may face. Accessibility+ helps close the loop by enabling instructors to make all content—including legacy materials created outside of Brightspace—more accessible to a wider range of learners.
Developed in partnership with the learning optimization and accessibility experts at ansrsource, Accessibility+ combines AI-driven automation with expert oversight to deliver inclusive, WCAG 2.2 AAA-compliant learning experiences. It provides:
- full-spectrum coverage that can scan everything from PDFs, HTML and video files to SCORM packages and external links
- multi-lingual, global-ready support that enable the scanning of all Unicode and ANSII character sets, including right-to-left languages
- proactive monitoring that scans for gaps as content is created or updated
- dashboards and reports that provide clear, actionable data to help drive meaningful progress
