Through partnerships with organisations championing the educational rights of persons with disabilities, D2L continues to lead in making learning accessible
As the global learning technology leader, D2L is committed to ensuring that learners of all abilities have access to high-quality learning experiences. Promoting equity in learning is a major focus for D2L and their partner organisations as they look to empower students, educators, schools, and society. Together, this learning technology can help set a higher standard for adaptability and accessibility.
“In a time when gaps in equity are widening as a result of disruptions to the education system, technology has the potential to be a powerful equaliser — but only if applied in the right ways. At D2L, we believe that learning technology should never limit learning opportunities, and we’ve partnered with organisations around the world to ensure that the learning technology we create sets a world standard for adaptability and accessibility,” shared Nick Hutton, Regional Director of Asia at D2L.
“At D2L, we believe in leveraging technology to empower everyone with education. In a diverse country like India where the class divide in itself leaves many behind, it is even more difficult for the differently-abled. That is why it becomes imperative to standardise the digitalisation of education and make learning accessible to one and all. By implementing D2L’s Brightspace LMS across schools, colleges and universities, a holistic approach towards future-proofing education that is accessible to all can be achieved,” shared Dr Prem Das Maheshwari, Business Director of South Asia

IDA will use the Brightspace platform to help scale their training globally and make it more accessible.
Vision Australia is a leading national provider of blindness and low vision services in Australia. They needed a versatile and easy-to-access learning management system to support their 850 employees and 2,500 volunteers, about 15% of whom are blind or have low vision. They were impressed with the Brightspace LMS’s accessibility features, including its ability to interoperate with screen readers. Through educational technology that allows alternative methods of teaching and assessment, both deaf and hearing students are able to have equal, seamless access to feedback and personalised learning inside and outside the classroom.
“Technology has the power to democratise learning. With D2L’s Brightspace LMS, we have been able to empower students, by giving them the ability to learn at the style, place, and pace most suitable to them,” said Rogelio “Tugel” Dela Cruz Jr., Head of Educational Technology Office at De La Salle-College of St. Benilde. “We’re proud to partner with D2L, and to work together with them to build equitable systems of education that benefit the entire student body.”
