Notice: Active Recruitment Scam Targeting Candidates

D2L has been made aware of scams targeting job candidates where someone pretends to be a D2L recruiter or employee. Scams involving individuals impersonating company recruiters are on the rise and often appear aimed at obtaining sensitive information or money from job applicants. 

A person or group is impersonating D2L recruiters and employees in an attempt to scam potential job applicants. These impersonators are sending messages, (typically via unofficial email addresses or instant messaging) advertising job opportunities, setting up fake interviews, requesting money transfers, and providing fake contracts. 

How to recognize the scam? 

  1. All communications from D2L during the recruitment process will come directly from a D2L.com email address – double check sender information; the email address might look correct even if it’s not.
  2. A D2L recruiter will never message you about a job opportunity through personal email or instant messaging accounts (e.g. Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, FaceTime, WhatsApp, Telegram etc.). 
  3. As part of D2L’s recruitment process we will never ask for any payment or request you complete a financial transaction for the opportunity to apply or work at D2L. 
  4. As part of the application and selection process, we do not ask for tax forms, bank or credit card information or any SSN/SIN numbers.
  5. Watch out for get rich quick language or  failure to provide a clear or accurate job description and/ or work location. These are signs that it is probably a scam. 
     

Please be cautious of this fraudulent activity and contact your local law enforcement if you believe you are a victim of a crime related to one of these scams.
