D2L Named One of the Best Places to Work

Press Release

Glassdoor recognizes D2L with 2022 employees’ choice award

D2L, a global learning technology company transforming the way the world learns, today received the Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Award, which recognizes the Best Places to Work in 2022 in Canada. Winners are selected based solely on the input of employees, who provide anonymous feedback by completing a company review about their job, work environment and employer on Glassdoor, the worldwide leader on insights about jobs and companies.

“When people are aligned, find purpose in the mission, and strive to be world-class in their craft – it anchors our culture and drives engagement,” said John Baker, President and CEO of D2L. “Receiving this award is a real tribute to what our employees have created: an extraordinarily successful company with a fantastic culture that cares deeply about each other and our mission to transform the way the world learns. We’re deeply appreciative for this recognition.”

With a culture of recognition, fun, innovation and collaboration, D2L is at a new stage of growth. The global company not only offers traditional benefits and opportunities to make a real impact, but also provides flexible work options, professional development programs, volunteer time off, a patent incentive program and career advancement opportunities. With a 92% CEO approval rating on Glassdoor, the company’s founder and CEO John Baker remains at the helm of the company after 22 years.

“The world of work is rapidly evolving, fueled by the pandemic and now millions of workers re-evaluating their expectations from employers. This year’s Best Places to Work winners are leading the way by listening and responding to employee feedback and reimagining the employee experience to truly put their people first,” said Christian Sutherland-Wong, Glassdoor chief executive officer. “It’s inspiring to see these employers step up during the pandemic to expand and grow company cultures where employees feel supported and valued in and out of work. Congratulations to all of this year’s Employees’ Choice Award winners.”

On Glassdoor, current and former employees voluntarily and anonymously share insights and opinions about their work environments by sharing a company review, designed to capture a genuine and authentic inside look at what a specific job may be like at a particular company. When sharing a company review on Glassdoor, employees are asked to rate their satisfaction with the company overall, and key workplace factors like career opportunities, compensation and benefits, culture and values, senior management, diversity and inclusion, and work/life balance. In addition, employees are asked to describe the best reasons to work at their companies as well as any downsides.

Now in its 14th year, Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work were determined using company reviews shared by U.S.-based employees between October 20, 2020, and October 18, 2021. To be considered for the Canada category, a company must have had at least 1,000 employees and have received at least 25 ratings across each of the nine workplace attributes from Canada-based employees during the period of eligibility. The final list is compiled using Glassdoor’s proprietary algorithm, led by its Economic Research Team, and considers quantity, quality and consistency of reviews. Complete awards methodology can be found here.
