D2L’s Chief Marketing Officer Wins Aragon Research 2021 Women in Technology Award

Alys Reynders Scott Recognized for Excellence in Marketing

Press Release

D2L Inc., a global learning technology leader, today announced that Alys Reynders Scott, the company’s Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), has been awarded the Aragon Research 2021 Women in Technology Award in Marketing. Alys, a four-time CMO in the SaaS software market, has led standout market penetration and acceleration strategies for multi-national, high-growth public and private companies for more than 25 years. She joined D2L a year ago and leads brand, go-to-market and revenue marketing initiatives worldwide.

“For more than 15 years, I have had a front-row seat watching Alys deliver impressive results for the businesses she joins. Her intellect, experience, and team-centric approach have been the underpinnings of her continued success, but her genuine passion about the places and people she supports is defining. Among a truly impressive pool of nominations, Aragon Research’s Women in Technology Committee is delighted to be awarding Alys this recognition for marketing excellence,” said Jim Lundy, founder and CEO of Aragon Research.

Alys Reynders Scott was honored alongside Jennifer Caukin and Kira Makagon of RingCentral, Gina Armada of MHC Software, Radhika Chagarlamudi of Cisco, Sue Quakenbush of Vonage, Shefali Shah of Avaya, Edie Kissko of Poly, Kirsten Phillips of MDLive and Potoula Chresomales of SkillSoft during the awards ceremony at the Aragon Research Transform 2021 virtual event on December 2, 2021. The highly regarded awards program, established in 2017, recognizes women who have demonstrated outstanding personal and professional growth, supported their communities through mentorship and significantly contributed to the technology industry.

“I’m deeply honored for this recognition, which I’m proud to share with an outstanding group of women business leaders and with my extraordinary marketing team members,” said Alys Reynders Scott, Chief Marketing Officer of D2L. “This award is particularly meaningful to me, because with it, Aragon Research not only honors women who contribute to the strategic direction and performance of their organizations, but it also celebrates those who are passionate about human potential and focused on cultivating and mentoring the next generation of young professionals. This is, without question, has been the most rewarding part of my career. It is impossible to deliver impact without opportunity, and I am endlessly grateful to have worked closely with CEOs — as I do today — who embrace the value of marketing in driving business growth and who value gender diversity and balance on their leadership teams.

Alys Reynders Scott is a 30-year marketing and communications veteran and a core member of the D2L leadership team. As CMO of D2L, Alys has been the key architect in building a powerful marketing strategy for one of the world’s leading education technology companies. Supporting that growth, Alys has driven marketing innovation at D2L with the launch of a new brand identity and narrative, enhanced go-to-market strategies for the company’s award-winning learning platform, significantly modernized digital marketing and lead generation practices, the ideation and execution of new and expanded customer programs, and a sharp focus on employee engagement and team building. In addition, Alys was deeply active in supporting D2L’s initial public offering on the Toronto Stock Exchange, which closed November 2021.

“I cannot think of another person more deserving of this award,” said John Baker, President and CEO of D2L. “One of Alys’ greatest strengths is her ability to set an ambitious, forward-looking vision and then inspire everyone around her to deliver on those goals, which is an important combination for an executive. Alys’ vibrant leadership style truly stands out in both her daily work and investment in the career growth of those with whom she works. On behalf of everyone at D2L, we wish a warm and well-deserved congratulations to Alys!”

Alys graduated from Hamilton College and has a proven track record in marketing, corporate communications, product marketing and investor relations. Throughout her career, she has made strong contributions to the growth and direction of a wide range of agencies and corporations, including Miller Shandwick Technologies, International Data Group (IDG), Miller Consulting Group, PeopleFluent, Salary.com and Definitive Healthcare. She has been a speaker at several industry events, including keynotes and panels at the Women in HR Tech Summit, World@Work and Women In Digital.
