Dr. Bethany Simunich
Vice President, Innovation and Research, Quality Matters
Dr. Bethany Simunich is Vice President of Innovation and Research at Quality Matters (QM), a global non-profit dedicated to advancing quality in digital learning across all levels of education. She leads initiatives that help institutions, faculty, and staff make research-based, data-informed decisions to strengthen quality assurance and improve student success in online environments. With more than 20 years in higher education, Dr. Simunich has served as a faculty member in both in-person and online settings, and has extensive experience in instructional design, educational technology, and faculty development. As an online learning administrator, she has built and led instructional design teams, developed faculty training programs, and advised institutions, state systems, and national organizations on online quality assurance. She is also co-Director of the CHLOE Project (Changing Landscape of Online Education), which captures the perspectives of senior online learning leaders across U.S. higher education, and co-author of High Impact Design for Online Courses (HIDOC), an instructional design model purpose-built for online teaching and learning.
