    Explore the latest advancements in AI, virtual and AR and seamless third-party integrations that extend Brightspace’s capabilities. This track highlights practical implementations and forward-looking solutions that strengthen the broader teaching and learning ecosystem.

    Examine how institutions are leveraging analytics and data platforms to inform decision-making, improve adoption and demonstrate measurable impact on learner success and organizational goals.

  • Learning for the Working Professional

    This session track is designed for leaders responsible for developing the skills, capabilities, and confidence working professionals need to stay effective and relevant. Sessions focus on building intentional, future-focused learning strategies—attendees will learn how to identify emerging skill needs, align learning with organizational priorities, and scale effectively.
  • Research

    A growing forum for scholarly work centered on Brightspace. Present empirical studies, evaluation projects, and applied research that contribute to the evidence base for effective online and blended learning practices. Showcase your research on how the Brightspace Learning Management System (LMS) can transform lives and make an impact in this growing field.

    P01 | Agents, Strings, and Awards: Designing Connection in D2L Brightspace

    Every course communicates, even in silence. This session explores how tools like Intelligent Agents, Replace Strings, and Awards can be used to help design for connection, clarity, and student support. After a brief presentation, participants will reflect on what their courses are “saying” and identify opportunities to strengthen engagement through purposeful design.

    P02 | Building a Sustainable Accessibility Workflow: Faculty Support & Digital Resource Remediation

    In response to the ADA Title II accessibility rule, our department implemented a coordinated strategy to improve accessibility across digital resources and Brightspace courses. This session shares how collaboration, faculty training, and structured remediation workflows helped build more sustainable accessibility practices.

    Skills, Credentials, and Development

    P04 | Crafting Competencies for CBE

    Martin Luther College expanded its traditional ministry certification pathway by implementing competency-based theological education in D2L Brightspace and is continuing to develop CBE courses for teacher licensure. Competencies were drawn from state licensure standards as well as existing course objectives and program goals. This session examines how competencies were identified, structured within the LMS, and assessed through mastery-based evaluation, and shares key lessons from the first three years of implementation.

    P05 | Demo Student: A True Learner Experience for Instructors

    D2L Brightspace includes excellent “View As” functionality allowing instructors to see the Learner perspective of their courses, but does not provide an accurate representation of some Brightspace tools and functions. Purdue University built a true Demo Student that can be added by any instructor to any course. Other D2L customers like George Brown College, City University of New York, New York University, and Toronto Metropolitan University have implemented Demo Student in their instance of Brightspace using a similar approach.

    P06 | Digital Spring Cleaning Take Two: Collaborative Management of D2L Brightspace Data Growth

    Since 2020, the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) campuses have experienced exponential growth in their D2L Brightspace data footprint. This session addresses the need for coordinated data purging to optimize performance across a multi-instutution entity. Two TBR administrators and their D2L TAM will present best practices for data cleanup processes and strategies for deployment of data management initiatives across multiple institutions.

    P08 | Enhancing Campus Organizations with D2L Brightspace Discover

    Campus organizations can sometimes struggle when it comes to delivering information and connecting with students. Students also struggle with knowing all the clubs available to them. That’s where D2L Brightspace comes in. Thanks to the Discover tool, students on our campus are informed on what organizations are out there, can join them freely, and can engage with other community members, all without ever leaving our LMS. Join me as I go over what I’ve done to implement Discover, the problems it solves, and how successful it’s been!

In this interactive session, we’ll explore those insights together and co‑design practical, learner‑centered strategies to strengthen the Brightspace experience for large‑scale professional learning.

    AI on campus can feel like a mystery: What’s allowed? What’s ethical? Who decides? In this Clue-themed session, see how McLennan Community College is solving the case using D2L Brightspace as the hub: faculty PD delivered in D2L Brightspace, an AI Task Force that built shared norms (including the AI Stoplight Framework), and a student AI Literacy module in D2L Brightspace.
