Grab a welcome drink and walk around to engage with the various Learning Exchange poster presenters showcasing their work during this one-hour dedicated poster timeslot. 

Every course communicates, even in silence. This session explores how tools like Intelligent Agents, Replace Strings, and Awards can be used to help design for connection, clarity, and student support. After a brief presentation, participants will reflect on what their courses are “saying” and identify opportunities to strengthen engagement through purposeful design.

In response to the ADA Title II accessibility rule, our department implemented a coordinated strategy to improve accessibility across digital resources and Brightspace courses. This session shares how collaboration, faculty training, and structured remediation workflows helped build more sustainable accessibility practices. 

Martin Luther College expanded its traditional ministry certification pathway by implementing competency-based theological education in D2L Brightspace and is continuing to develop CBE courses for teacher licensure. Competencies were drawn from state licensure standards as well as existing course objectives and program goals. This session examines how competencies were identified, structured within the LMS, and assessed through mastery-based evaluation, and shares key lessons from the first three years of implementation.

D2L Brightspace includes excellent “View As” functionality allowing instructors to see the Learner perspective of their courses, but does not provide an accurate representation of some Brightspace tools and functions. Purdue University built a true Demo Student that can be added by any instructor to any course. Other D2L customers like George Brown College, City University of New York, New York University, and Toronto Metropolitan University have implemented Demo Student in their instance of Brightspace using a similar approach.

Since 2020, the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) campuses have experienced exponential growth in their D2L Brightspace data footprint. This session addresses the need for coordinated data purging to optimize performance across a multi-instutution entity. Two TBR administrators and their D2L TAM will present best practices for data cleanup processes and strategies for deployment of data management initiatives across multiple institutions.

Whether you are in the early stages of planning a competency-based education (CBE) program or you are already in the water and looking for a lifeline, this session can help give you a realistic picture of what the deep end looks like as well as practical guidance for swimming rather than sinking.

Campus organizations can sometimes struggle when it comes to delivering information and connecting with students. Students also struggle with knowing all the clubs available to them. That’s where D2L Brightspace comes in. Thanks to the Discover tool, students on our campus are informed on what organizations are out there, can join them freely, and can engage with other community members, all without ever leaving our LMS. Join me as I go over what I’ve done to implement Discover, the problems it solves, and how successful it’s been!

Florida mathematics educators shared rich feedback about their D2L Brightspace learning experience in asynchronous professional learning. They highlighted what works well and where small design shifts could significantly improve usability, navigation, and engagement. In this interactive session, we’ll explore those insights together and co‑design practical, learner‑centered strategies to strengthen the Brightspace experience for large‑scale professional learning.

AI on campus can feel like a mystery: What’s allowed? What’s ethical? Who decides? In this Clue-themed session, see how McLennan Community College is solving the case using D2L Brightspace as the hub: faculty PD delivered in D2L Brightspace, an AI Task Force that built shared norms (including the AI Stoplight Framework), and a student AI Literacy module in D2L Brightspace. 

Join our Learning Exchange Presentation to discover how we have optimized the use of D2L Roles & Permissions to streamline campus ADA initiatives to provide optimal access to courses while improving data governance and providing optimal user experiences.  

Attendees will be able to explore our presentation at their own pace and engage with the presenters about our unique institutional workflows, adjustments, and fine tuning we have made and the handling of unique situations. 

Learn a practical framework for creating accurate, scalable AI-generated learning experiences. This session explores how to combine generative AI with SME validation to ensure content remains accurate, accessible, and aligned to learning goals. Through real-world examples from healthcare and association education, attendees will gain actionable strategies to modernize content, reduce rework, and integrate validated AI workflows into D2L Brightspace.

Combined multi-level courses, such as combined graduate and undergraduate sections, can be difficult to manage within a single D2L Brightspace shell. This session shares practical strategies for structuring assignments, gradebooks, and release conditions to support different expectations for each group while keeping courses more clear, organized, and manageable for instructors.

How do you transform a fragmented LMS experience into one that works for every learner? Discover how our team used faculty feedback, academic counselor insights, and QM alignment to redesign our D2L Brightspace master shell – and what we learned along the way.

Going beyond traditional LMS training requires rethinking whose experiences shape faculty development. This session examines the University of Arizona’s D2L Brightspace Institute, a student‑informed initiative developed by a Center for Teaching and Learning in response to student feedback on course consistency and transparency. Attendees will explore how cross‑functional expertise and applied design practices support faculty excellence and student success.

When our institution transitioned to a new LMS, course migration became more than a technical task. It required planning, communication, collaboration, and support at scale. This digital poster shares what worked, what did not, and what we learned through a large course migration, giving other institutions practical ideas they can use when planning their own LMS transition.

We explore how iterative, user-informed design transformed our asynchronous K-12 mathematics professional learning program. We will share practical strategies that helped to increased user interaction, improved accessibility, and streamlined assessment workflows, which consequently improved learner satisfaction and outcomes. Participants will gain tangible strategies for creating more interactive online learning environments, supporting educator growth and development.
