Pre-Conference Tracks

Pre-Conference is perfect for those looking to start early to get a head start on learning at Fusion.

Brightspace Training – Beginner/Intermediate

Format: 4 x 60min Training Sessions

This Pre-Conference Training track is great for new users and Brightspace beginners to enhance their skills, explore new tools and learn tips and how-to’s from the D2L Training team.  

This track will have 4 separate 60 min hands-on training sessions throughout the day.

Attendees of the Brightspace Training Pre-Conference can attend sessions from either the Beginner or Advanced Training Tracks.

Breakfast and lunch included.

Brightspace Training – Intermediate/Advanced

Format: 4 x 60min Training Sessions

This Pre-Conference Training track is geared to advanced users looking to elevate their proficiencies, get questions answered by the D2L Training team, and flex their Brightspace muscles to even further.   

This track will have 4 separate 60min hands-on training sessions throughout the day.

Attendees of the Brightspace Training Pre-Conference can attend sessions from either the Beginner or Advanced Training Tracks.

Breakfast and lunch included.

AI Workshop – Redesigning Courses and Programs in the Age of AI

Format: 1 x 4hour Workshop

This Pre-Conference Workshop is designed for academic leaders, faculty, instructors, and instructional designers across organizations who are navigating the integration of AI into teaching and learning. The 4 hour session will cover how we redesign courses and programs with AI in mind (responding thoughtfully to a changed landscape), and how we use AI as a creative partner in the design process itself. Throughout the day participants will alternate between facilitated content and structured small-group conversation, ensuring ample time to explore how these ideas apply to their specific organizational contexts.  

Attendees of the AI Workshop Track Pre-Conference Track must attend the full 4 hour AI Workshop.

  • Learner Experience and Success

    Focused on designing inclusive, engaging and supportive learning environments. Sessions will address accessibility, personalized pathways, learner well-being integration, and evidence-based strategies that enhance retention and impact learner success.
  • Learning for the Working Professional

    This session track is designed for leaders responsible for developing the skills, capabilities, and confidence working professionals need to stay effective and relevant. Sessions focus on building intentional, future-focused learning strategies—attendees will learn how to identify emerging skill needs, align learning with organizational priorities, and scale effectively.
  • Research

    A growing forum for scholarly work centered on Brightspace. Present empirical studies, evaluation projects, and applied research that contribute to the evidence base for effective online and blended learning practices. Showcase your research on how the Brightspace Learning Management System (LMS) can transform lives and make an impact in this growing field.

    Site Administration, Integration & IT Leadership

    For the site admins and technical and operational teams managing SIS integrations, LTI standards, data governance, accessibility compliance, and large-scale Brightspace deployments.
  • Skills, Credentials, and Development

    This track addresses the evolving role of technology in competency-based education, micro-credentials, comprehensive learner records and workforce development programs, with particular attention to equity and scalable credentialing models.
