Proof

By The Numbers

When we built AI into Brightspace, we set a standard for what it had to deliver: time back for educators, student work that holds up as real learning, and access for everyone. The research is consistent on why that standard matters. AI grounded in course material and guided by the instructor helps students learn. AI bolted on without that structure can do the opposite.

Below is the scorecard we use, the early numbers against it, and the institutions who ran their own measurements and let us publish what they found.

The scorecard we grade ourselves against

EFFICIENT

Did it give instructors time back this term?

EFFECTIVE

Did it produce work that’s genuinely usable for learning — competency demonstrated, not activity logged?

ACCESSIBLE

Does it meet accessibility and universal-design expectations?

The stats

  • ~30%

Course-design time saved when educators build with D2L Lumi — the hours we want returned to teaching.

  • 16%

more completions — At The American College of Financial Services, an additional 16 out of every 100 students are completing courses rebuilt with Creator+ and D2L Lumi.

  • 1000

conversations — In two and a half weeks, 10% of Blyth Academy students used D2L Lumi Tutor, holding over 1,000 unique conversations. That’s more than their previous tutoring service saw in a full year.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS

We’ll let them say it

That’s how we measure. Here’s what the people using these tools every day found when they measured for themselves.
