Ellen Buck Director of Learning and Teaching, University of Suffolk

Ellen Buck is Director of Learning and Teaching at the University of Suffolk, where she leads the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching and the University’s Library and Research Services provision. The last 2 years have seen Ellen strategically lead the University’s response to blended learning in the pandemic and an institutional move to a block and blend pedagogy.

Ellen began her professional career as a librarian in a government science agency and has since worked as a librarian and service lead at the University of Falmouth before joining Suffolk in 2011.

Felix Kuijpers presenter photo
Felix Kuijpers Programme Manager Education Innovation, ICT

Felix Kuijpers began his career at the Royal Military Academy in the Netherlands. He worked as a technical officer for 15 years in the Air Force at several airbases and at its headquarters. He continued his career as a Business Unit Manager at Capgemini in the ICT and high-tech-sector. He joined Avans University as a lecturer in industrial engineering in 2015 and since 2018 has been the University’s Programme Manager Education Innovation with ICT. Felix has degrees in Aeronautical Engineering, ICT and Industrial Engineering.

Dr. Michelle Olmstead is the Director for the Centre for Innovation, Leiden University where she focuses on innovation in education, using digital didactics. She has over 20 years of experience in the digital transition in higher education.

Stewart Watts Senior VP Sales - EMEA, D2L

A graduate of The University of Nottingham, Stewart has worked in the software industry within Education since 2011 gaining a good understanding of the intricacies of FE/HE institutions, the challenges they face and the common goals and objectives across the sector. Stewart moved to D2L in January 2016 having previously run the sales operation at Blackbaud Europe helping schools, colleges, universities and charities grow their revenue through fundraising and alumni relations technology.

At D2L, Stewart heads up D2L’s business in the EMEA region and is responsible for the retention and growth of D2L’s customer base within both the education and enterprise sectors. Since joining D2L in early 2016, Stewart has worked closely with many universities across Europe and acts as D2L’s Project Sponsor for any new implementations of Brightspace within the region.
