Imagine a future where every student has a personal tutor—24/7, patient, tailored to their pace, language, and learning style. Now imagine every teacher with a tireless, uber responsive assistant—helping plan lessons, provide feedback, and focus on what matters most: teaching.

In this compelling 60-minute masterclass, Dawid explores how AI isn’t just enhancing education—it’s poised to transform it. Through vivid stories, live demos, and real-world examples, Dawid paints a picture of what’s possible when we give every learner and every educator the support they deserve. What happens when no child is left behind? When no teacher burns out? We don’t just fix education—we unlock the full potential of society. This is the future of learning. And it’s closer than you think.

Breakout Session #1 | Identifying and supporting academically ‘at risk’ students using Brightspace datasets

Speaker: Emma Rice, Senior Advisor, Learning and Teaching, TAFE Queensland & Steve Ambrose, Team Leader, Educational Technologies Experience, TAFE Queensland

TAFE Queensland’s Student Success and Retention Plan focuses on activities aimed at creating a student experience that drives successful student outcomes. The presentation will centre around one unique student intervention model that focuses on academically ‘at risk’ students, outlining how data appropriated from TAFE Queensland’s LMS (Brightspace) and other sources can provide educators with specific, targeted information to identify students academically ‘at risk’ of not completing their studies (unit and/or qualification) so appropriate and timely support can be provided. This innovative approach gathers individual and cohort-level data linked to academic progression at specific milestones through the students learning journey. It highlights priority needs cohorts and those not meeting entry-level core skill benchmarks for a qualification. The presentation will explore the significant benefits for students, educators, and the organisation as well as the technical solution used to prepare and present data to staff.

Deakin University has embarked on the journey of automating the transfer of Grades from Brightspace to their Student Management System. On this journey we discovered that the biggest challenge in the process is having consistent Gradebooks prepared without input errors. To ensure the transfer can run smoothly the Gradebook Checker was developed to make it easy to identify and fix errors in the Gradebook before they are transferred to the Student Management System. This presentation will step you through the process and show you how it was seamlessly integrated with Brightspace using the JavaScript Management Tool, Valence APIs and WidgetData.
