One platform, multiple pedagogies
Brightspace can help support multiple delivery modes or pedagogical approaches from one single platform. These include anything from blended to fully online delivery, as well as continuing education models through short courses or microcredential opportunities—in part facilitated through our e-commerce solution, Course Merchant. Brightspace allows instructors to deliver courses using an array of pedagogical models too, from problem or challenge-based approaches, all the way through to game-based learning.
Brightspace is a leading competency-based education platform, built to offer more powerful, individualised learning at scale, with the likes of Southern New Hampshire University adopting Brightspace to help reduce barriers with online experiential learning.
One thing that makes us a little different is that our heritage is grounded in fully online learning. This is where automation, personalisation and rich learning analytics tools stem from. The first iteration of Brightspace was built to support a solely online course at the University of Guelph.
Block and blend
A number of universities, including De Montfort University and the University of Suffolk, have adopted a block and blend approach to teaching. This can help students to study one module at a time, instead of studying multiple options concurrently. Brightspace can support student engagement and independent learning, and facilitates regular assessments and feedback for course leaders.
We needed a flexible and facilitated approach to help faculty transform their teaching strategies for a remote delivery format. We leveraged our expertise across the continuum of course delivery methods to create a scalable and sustainable solution.

TAFE Queensland offers a range of non-accredited continuous professional development and short courses via their online storefront.
The organisational unit structure in Brightspace can be set up to include your organisation as a whole, campuses, departments, programs, social spaces, communities of practice and course levels.
