Superior support for flexible, collaborative learning and research environments key to selection of Desire2Learn
Desire2Learn Incorporated and its subsidiary, D2L Ltd. (Desire2Learn), leading providers of mission-critical enterprise eLearning solutions, today announced that the University of Colorado at Boulder (CU-Boulder), one of the top national research institutions in the U.S., has migrated to Desire2Learn Learning Suite.
CU-Boulder is home to over 29,000 undergraduate and graduate students across nine schools and colleges. The university required a Learning Management System (LMS) that was highly extensible with many of their existing and planned enterprise technology. Desire2Learn was selected to help increase adoption of the LMS across campus programs as it provides a rich set of tools, while still being highly intuitive for new users.
“Desire2Learn has been an excellent partner throughout this process,” says Deborah Keyek-Franssen, Director of ITS’ Academic Technology unit at CU-Boulder. “They impressed our selection committee and the many faculty and students who participating in evaluating our LMS choices. We chose Desire2Learn in part because curricular designs increasingly call for incorporating reflective ePortfolios and outcomes assessment that follow students throughout their career and beyond and improve student learning; the Desire2Learn product provides solid solutions in this area. Our new Desire2Learn LMS will also provide the campus with a much needed suite of community tools, increase our ability to track the learning process across courses and individualized programs to improve student learning.”
The transition to Desire2Learn will involve a comprehensive migration, with retirement of the existing system in summer 2012. CU-Boulder was not only looking for a new LMS, but also for ongoing tool integrations and development to support the changing needs of the schools, colleges and campus constituents. Faculty and IT staff have expressed optimism and eagerness about the transition to the Desire2Learn platform.
“We are excited to be partnering with the University of Colorado at Boulder as they move forward in their support of flexible collaborative learning and research environments,” states John Baker, President & CEO, Desire2Learn. “We pride ourselves on providing superior support for our products and we will be with CU-Boulder every step of the way to ensure a smooth transition from their current LMS. We look forward to enhancing the educational experience at CU-Boulder.”
