Desire2Learn continues support of One Laptop Per Child Program through XOXO Initiative
Desire2Learn Incorporated (Desire2Learn), a leading provider of mission-critical enterprise eLearning solutions, successfully kicked-off the 2009 XOXO campaign at FETC 2009, the annual technology conference for K-12 audiences in Orlando, Florida, January 21-24, 2009.
Along with several Desire2Learn Select Partners, including Elluminate, Inc. and Respondus, Desire2Learn has set a goal of raising sufficient funds to support the purchase of a hundred XO laptops for the One Laptop Per Child Program. This translates into multiple classrooms being equipped with laptops to support the eLearning needs of students in underprivileged areas throughout the world.
The highly successful XOXO program was launched in the Fall of 2008 with enough funds raised initially to equip an entire classroom with XO laptops. In addition to providing funds for laptop purchases through the XOXO initiative, Desire2Learn is raising awareness of the One Laptop Per Child program at venues all over North America.
“Desire2Learn is excited to once again be spearheading this very worthwhile endeavour,” said John McLeod, Director of Marketing, Desire2Learn. “Along with the support and participation of several of our partners, we will carry out the XOXO Program at many of the trade shows and conferences in which we participate this year. Attendees will be able to join in, directly influencing the educational experiences of children, simply by visiting the Desire2Learn and partner booths.”
