Robustness, client-care approach product features, and streamlined platform key to selection of Desire2Learn Learning Suite
Desire2Learn Incorporated (Desire2Learn), a leading provider of mission-critical enterprise eLearning solutions, today announced that Singapore Management University (SMU) has adopted the Desire2Learn Learning Suite institution-wide to support its extensive online course offerings.
SMU is Singapore’s newest university having been established in 2000. With more than 7,000 students, SMU required a platform with agility and robustness that would link with its philosophy and outlook on eLearning.
A campus-wide survey was conducted to understand user needs and expectations. Research, trial accounts, demo and discussion sessions with vendors were critical components of the SMU review process and involved stakeholders at all levels. The Desire2Learn platform received wide campus endorsement and senior management approval was readily obtained.
SMU was drawn to Desire2Learn product features, timely response to queries, and very positive references from existing customers.
We have been very impressed with Desire2Learn’s willingness to work closely with us throughout the process,” stated May Lit, Senior Manager, Integrated Information Technology Services (IITS), Singapore Management University. “It has worked diligently to understand and address our needs and future plans for eLearning.
SMU has started with 70 courses and will have full migration of all courses from its legacy system in time for the start of the Fall 2011 term. The Desire2Learn solution will enable SMU to not only develop better grade processing but to also improve the granularity control in Roles and Permissions.
Accreditation reporting is a crucial next step for SMU,” remarked Lit. “We sought a reliable and scalable learning management system (LMS) that is streamlined and incorporates content management through a learning repository, provides adoption of an ePortfolio as well as competency measurement. We have found all of that in Desire2Learn.
We are very excited to be working with Singapore Management University, the first of our clients in Singapore,” said John Baker, President & CEO, Desire2Learn. “We are committed to continuing to build upon our customer and partner base in the Asia-Pacific region and will be with SMU every step of the way as it implements the Desire2Learn Learning Suite within the institution.
