Regis University Converts to Desire2Learn Learning Management System

Press Release

Top-ranking Colorado university migrates to Desire2Learn Learning Suite citing platform intuitiveness, ease-of-use and support

D2L Ltd. today announced that Regis University, a top-ranking western regional university in Colorado, has selected Desire2Learn Learning Suite following an extensive review process involving an open-source competitor and vendor-based learning management system (LMS).

As a leading provider of online continuing education and home to one of the country’s highest-ranked online MBA programs, Regis University sought a holistic online solution that has the robust capability to provide a consistent, high-quality and dependable experience to the institution’s 7,500 full-time enrollments. Regis University began implementing Desire2Learn in April 2011 and will continue with a phased deployment.

Virtually every student at Regis University will participate in online coursework before they graduate, remarks Peter Greco, Chief Information Officer, Regis University. Desire2Learn supports the art of online learning, not just the science. At Regis, we feel that the Desire2Learn Learning Suite is designed with the user in mind.

Upon review of Desire2Learn and two competing systems, Regis University emphasized that Desire2Learn offered the best IT solution and structural base, designed for optimum scalability and performance. Faculty members were impressed by the intuitive interface and the immediate ease-of-use. Among other future pursuits, Regis sees an opportunity to expand existing dual language programs online to provide courses in both Spanish and English.

Desire2Learn shares Regis University’s commitment to providing innovative education by equipping students with the necessary tools to make a positive impact in their communities, states John Baker, President & CEO, Desire2Learn. Regis University is a leading institution that believes in providing outstanding experiences for both online and classroom education. We look forward to working closely with Regis to help them achieve their vision for the future of learning.

At Regis University, we believe that education is about inspiring our students to use what they learn here to not only make distinguished professional contributions but also to contribute to the improvement of society, adds Greco. The dependability of the Desire2Learn platform allows us to focus on achieving that mission because it enables instructors to focus on what they know best  teaching  and trust that the technology will do its job on its own.
