Montana State University (MSU) has selected Desire2Learn as the learning management system for all four campuses across the state
Desire2Learn Incorporated (Desire2Learn), a leading provider of mission-critical enterprise eLearning solutions, was recently awarded a contract with Montana State University (MSU). More than 20,000 students are enrolled through the four MSU campuses: MSU in Bozeman, MSU-Billings, MSU-Great Falls and MSU-Northern in Havre. This summer, Montana State University will complete the transition to Desire2Learn as the campus-supported Learning Management System (LMS) for fully online courses and face-to-face courses that are supplemented with Web-based learning.
Desire2Learn was selected by MSU through a public RFP process and with input from a large group of faculty, staff and students. MSU has a compelling mission to enhance student learning across the state and internationally with Desire2Learn’s comprehensive eLearning Suite to support, enhance and build student success. Instructors have responded positively to Desire2Learn’s rich features such as the intuitive user-interface and highly interactive discussion and collaboration.
“I was delighted to monitor the process that MSU engaged in to secure a top-flight LMS that was broadly embraced by faculty and platform support personnel from all four of its campuses,” said Tom Gibson, Director of eLearning Business Development for the Montana University System. “The implementation of the Desire2Learn platform across its campuses for online delivery and technology-enhanced classroom instruction will serve the faculty and students well. It also supports several goals associated with the Board of Regents’ strategic plan, including improving student access and affordability, and having the campuses function as more of a System in order to better support ease of transferability and multiple campus course enrollments.”
This summer all MSU courses will be fully converted to Desire2Learn and all four campuses will be up and running on the Desire2Learn eLearning Suite by September 2009. Gibson added that Flathead Valley Community College in Kalispell has also recently selected Desire2Learn as its platform, further expanding student opportunities from a System perspective.
“Montana State University is a top-tier US university system with a deep heritage of academic excellence. We are delighted to help them create a flexible, innovative and interactive online learning environment with our eLearning Suite. As MSU grows and extends its vision for engaging students in Montana and internationally, we at Desire2Learn look forward to partnering with them to achieve their mission” said John Baker, President & CEO, Desire2Learn.
