Instituto ABCD shares knowledge about learning disabilities across Brazil and reaches every student with Brightspace
D2L, a global learning technology leader, announces that Instituto ABCD (ABCD Institute) (iABCD) has selected its Brightspace learning management system (LMS) to provide online courses to instructors and approximately 2,000 students across Brazil this year.
Founded in 2009, iABCD is dedicated to generating, promoting and disseminating projects that have a positive impact on the lives of Brazilians with dyslexia and other learning disorders. The Institute required a platform that they could manage easily. They were pleased to learn that D2L’s Brightspace was cloud-based, provided strong support for their accessibility needs, and that the company was mission-aligned in terms of how it strives to meet every student’s unique learning needs.
“Our main training program, Todos Aprendem (Everyone Learns), trains teachers on identifying different learning profiles, promoting early detection of learning difficulties, and supporting students that are challenged with dyslexia,” said Juliana Amorina, Technical Director of iABCD. “D2L’s Brightspace will enable us to reach every student and meet their needs with fully accessible courseware for online and blended courses.”
D2L has helped transform and modernize learning for people all over the world, leading the charge in making learning accessible to all. D2L’s Brightspace was the first LMS to be accepted to the National Federation of the Blind’s (NFB) new Strategic Nonvisual Access Partnership (SNAP) program, the first partner after Target Corporation.
“Accessibility is a core design principle for D2L and we strive to reach every student,” said Juan Lucca, D2L’s VP Sales in Latin America. “The company was established to remove barriers to learning, so we build technology in a way that it empowers every student.”
iABCD plans to provide content through Brightspace with the possibility of offline access. This will make it easier for remote regions of the country to access the course with any mobile device.
