IAE to offer students D2L’s world-class EdTech solution
D2L Incorporated—the EdTech company that created Brightspace, the world’s first truly integrated learning platform (ILP), today announced that IAE School of Business has selected Brightspace as its new virtual learning platform.
To date, IAE had an e-learning solution in place that they self-developed six years ago. Their solution required a significant upgrade in order to meet the needs of its students today, expand its capabilities and offer something more than a simple file repository.
“IAE wanted to offer its students more than just simple learning tools and were looking for a world-class solution,” said Laura Ferrofino, who is responsible for Student Technology, Process Improvement and New Projects at IAE. “We conducted several market studies about distance learning and technology usage in the classroom and realized that we didn’t have the capacity to internally to develop such a significant solution. We decided to look for a provider that could offer security, stability and compatibility and Brightspace met 90% of our requirements”, she added.
IAE opted to implement D2L Learning Environment along with D2L Learning Object Repository. They are currently evaluating D2L Insights™ and D2L Campus Life™, which would enable the institution to offer the most complete virtual learning platform on the market that is focused on personalized learning in order to enhance the capabilities of each individual.
The implementation of the project transpired over eight to ten weeks. One of those weeks was used for intensive training of the IT department and the faculty. “We needed teachers to be familiarized with the Brightspace platform’s capabilities so they could then introduce it properly to their students,” said Ferrofino. “After piloting the system we found that the impact was very positive. Teachers saw the potential of keeping all of their tools and information in one place, automating key processes and reducing evaluation time. Implementing Brightspace is enabling IAE to meet key milestones that we were previously unable to meet,” she added.
IAE was founded in 1978 as an academic institution of the Austral University focused on offering training programs for corporate executives, business leaders and organizations. Today it has two sites in Argentina, one in Paraguay and more than 12,500 students from 50 countries that have taken their classes and acquired the best knowledge in specific areas.
