D2L, the EdTech company, today announces that its Brightspace learning platform has been chosen by Docente al Día for their “Tu Clase, Tu País” program to help them make continuous education for teachers in Latin America more accessible. The program is known for providing teachers with innovative, customized professional development.
“Tu Clase, Tu País” is a social enterprise initiative that improves the quality of education by offering teachers a professional development space that addresses their particular difficulties and challenges. Tu Clase, Tu País works with public and private organizations to offer quality as well as relevant content for an innovative and effective learning experience.
The agreement signed between D2L and Tu Clase, Tu País which was implemented in September of 2014, will be in effect for three years. The Brightspace platform, consisting of the D2L Learning Environment, D2L Wiggio, D2L Insights™, and D2L Course Catalog, will help Tu Clase, Tu País be more accessible to all of their students.
Since the beginning of December 2014, the teacher-supported initiative has had a presence in Chile, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic. In Chile, Tu Clase, Tu País, works directly with the Ministry of Education to train primary and secondary school teachers using the Brightspace platform. The platform creates a data-driven learning pathway to support a teacher’s unique needs, so that they can grow, learn, teach, and collaborate with other teachers to raise the quality of the education offered in each of the Latin American countries. In Venezuela and the Dominican Republic, the effort is being done through an alliance with the Cisneros Foundation.
“To support significant changes in education in Latin America, Tu Clase, Tu País hopes to contribute to the development of public policies in some of our countries by facilitating access to real-time aggregated data on the strengths, weaknesses, interests, and expectations of our teachers,” said Eugenio Severín, co-founder and CEO of Tu Clase, Tu País. “In 2015, we want to reach at least fifty thousand teachers in Latin America, and from that point, double the number of users each year over the next three years.”
Tu Clase, Tu País’ professional development proposal is based on the experiences of real teachers who share their “know-how” through a collaborative network, personalized skills-based training, and online work facilitated in Brightspace.
