Desire2Learn users gather in San Diego for FUSION 2012

Press Release

Over 1,000 clients, partners and other industry leaders convene in San Diego for Desire2Learn's ninth annual users' conference

Desire2Learn Incorporated (“Desire2Learn”) today announced that FUSION 2012 – Desire2Learn’s ninth annual users’ conference – is underway in San Diego, California. A record number of clients, partners and other industry leaders are taking part in the conference, running July 16-20.

Three exceptional individuals are joining FUSION as keynote speakers this year.

Salman Khan will address the conference on Monday, inspiring attendees to “rethink education” by explaining the evolution of the Khan Academy – an online database of self-pacing software and instructional videos. Rear Admiral Arnold Lotring, a respected military, government, and corporate leader, will deliver his keynote address on Tuesday. As the current General Manager of Global Services Training and Education at GE Healthcare, Lotring will provide deep insight into the realm of professional development. On Wednesday, Rafe Esquith will speak to FUSION attendees about the challenges he has faced and conquered as an elementary school teacher in one of the most difficult districts in America. Attendees can draw from his best practices to augment their learning programs.

With over 200 breakout sessions led by users and Desire2Learn staff across five different tracks – Technical System Administration, Development, Project Management, Support and Training, and Teaching and Learning – FUSION provides an invaluable opportunity for users to gain in-depth insight into and training on Desire2Learn® technology.

This year’s theme at FUSION, Chart Your Course, is focused on providing educators with a fresh new set of approaches and perspectives on teaching and learning. The breakout sessions are aimed at showcasing the innovative ways clients are utilizing Desire2Learn technology in their organizations, and providing users with the expertise and tools they need to plan the next steps in their learning journeys.

“Our clients are at the heart of everything we do and FUSION is a natural extension of the partnership we develop with organizations around the world,” remarks John McLeod, Vice President, Marketing, Desire2Learn. “FUSION is the premier opportunity for us to provide an environment where clients can collaborate with their peers as well as our staff. It is an inspiring event, celebrating the commitment that the learning community makes to improve human potential.”

Attendees will also participate in new product announcements at a Special Event Monday afternoon, where presenters will highlight recent announcements and future plans. There will also be ample opportunity for attendees to dive deeper into the Desire2Learn Learning Suite 10 with demo pods on the conference floor as well as the opportunity engage with more than 140 product and service experts.

July 19-20 marks the return of FUSION Post Conference – two days of extensive training into specific uses of the Desire2Learn platform. Almost 200 attendees will attend in-depth workshops run entirely by Desire2Learn product experts.
