Windows Azure alliance agreement enables more flexibility in Desire2Learn's hosting services and other eLearning products
Desire2Learn Incorporated (“Desire2Learn”), a leading provider of enterprise teaching and learning platforms, today announced it has signed a four-year Windows Azure alliance agreement with Microsoft Corporation. This formalizes a strategic alliance that will see Desire2Learn’s cloud-based technology promoted worldwide through Microsoft’s Windows Azure platform. This integration with Microsoft’s Windows Azure platform will provide Desire2Learn and its clients further flexibility when using a number of Desire2Learn’s award winning products and services.
Desire2Learn is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and integration with the Windows Azure platform is the result of a broad and ongoing relationship between Desire2Learn and Microsoft. This relationship is a natural extension of both companies’ commitment to learning and to provide solutions that inspire educational leaders, teachers and students daily.
“We recognize Desire2Learn’s standing as a leading provider of educational software in K12 and higher education, and we are excited to see Windows Azure incorporated into its product offering,” said Walid Abu-Hadba, Corporate Vice President of the Developer & Platform Evangelism Group at Microsoft. “This collaboration will equip institutions, and their teachers and students with the software solutions they need to increase productivity and learning outcomes. At Microsoft we are committed to providing the tools and resources institutions need to equip students for the future, and Desire2Learn, one of our great education partners, enhances our ability to do that.”
Integration with the Windows Azure platform allows Desire2Learn to extend its already robust private cloud-based product offerings; with the use of the Windows Azure cloud, Desire2Learn will now offer a wider range of hosting and accessibility options and capabilities for educational institutions worldwide.
“Institutional leaders are faced with a rapidly changing educational landscape. Securing this alliance with Microsoft allows us greater flexibility in delivering world-class solutions to our clients” says Jeremy Auger, Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President, Desire2Learn Incorporated. “This integration is a great showcase of our commitment to building an open platform for education and a strong partner ecosystem to support our clients as they strive to achieve their vision for teaching and learning.”
