Desire2Learn is Hosting

Desire2Learn is hosting a morning of educational seminars on November 15th focusing on career related topics for 44 students from Bluevale Collegiate Institute.

On Tuesday, November 15th from 9:00am – 12:00pm Desire2Learn, Inc. will be hosting “A Learning Experience” for forty-four students in enrichment, business and tech classes at Bluevale Collegiate Institute (BCI).  The morning will be filled with six educational seminars focusing on career related topics such as content development, technical writing, quality assurance and sales.  There will also be a tour of Desire2Learn’s office space where students will be encouraged to ask questions and gain insight into the functioning of a software development company.

“This is a great learning experience for the students as it will open their eyes to what it would be like to work within a fast paced software environment,” affirms Sue Morris, program facilitator for the Enrichment Program at BCI.  All presenters will be talking to students about their respective career paths, the importance of higher education, and how high school co-op can benefit them in reaching their career objectives.  Morris also stated that a large number of the students attending the morning sessions are interested in pursuing technological degrees and careers, and will benefit greatly from the morning’s activities.

“Desire2Learn’s corporate focus is on the facilitation of learning,” states John Baker, CEO of Desire2Learn, Inc.  “We wanted to provide the students at BCI the opportunity to have a real hands-on learning experience and ask a variety of questions to our staff about what a typical day at Desire2Learn is really like.”  Desire2Learn, Inc. does active community work within the Kitchener-Waterloo region and this is one way of the numerous volunteer activities that the staff participates in to give back to their community.

A Learning Experience will be held at Desire2Learn’s main office at 72 Victoria Street South, Suite 401 with seminars starting at 9:00am.
