Desire2Learn and NYCDOE recognized by the IMS Global Learning Consortium for the utilization of Desire2Learn® Learning Suite to improve student success
Desire2Learn Incorporated (Desire2Learn) and the New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE), today announced that they been recognized with a Platinum Learning Impact Award from the IMS Global Learning Consortium for the implementation of the iLearnNYC platform built with Desire2Learn Learning Suite.
The Learning Impact Awards recognize the most impactful use of technology in support of learning worldwide. Each year, the IMS Executive Strategic Council selects award finalists by identifying examples of products and services that address the most significant challenges facing global education. At the 2012 Learning Impact Conference, held in Toronto, Ontario, May 14-17, a panel of global experts ranked the finalists. As a top-two finalist, the Desire2Learn and NYCDOE submission was awarded the top-level Platinum Learning Impact Award.
As the largest public school system in the United States, The New York City Department of Education implemented Desire2Learn Learning Suite for their iLearnNYC program. Desire2Learn tailored a flexible solution for the unique needs of the system to:
- Personalize learning based on data and variety of assessment strategies
- Easy adoption of NYS State and Common Core Standards in accessing and developing curricular resources
- Easy sharing of various learning materials with teachers within iLearnNYC
- Unique learning paths for students, which allows each student to produce a unique learning journey
- Aid teachers to better utilize data to improve instruction
- Flexibility for each school
