Desire2Learn announced today the expansion of the annual Desire2EXCEL Award Program. This opens the call for award nominations to thousands of users throughout the Desire2Learn Community. The program, now in its third year, features three separate award categories highlighting client successes and the sharing of best practices with the entire User Community.

The annual Desire2EXCEL Awards Program now consists of three new award categories to recognize the multitude of Desire2Learn users and the contributions they make toward their respective organizations.

The program includes:

  • Desire2EXCEL Teaching and Learning Award – This award recognizes Desire2Learn users who have created and designed exceptional courses that enhance teaching and learning at their organization, and contribute to the overall success of eLearning.

  • Desire2EXCEL Program Award – This award recognizes Desire2Learn users who have created and/or designed a program that demonstrates innovation and enhances teaching and learning at their organization.

  • Desire2EXCEL Community Award – This award recognizes Desire2Learn users who have fostered leadership, commitment and continued collaboration within their own organizational communities.

The redesign of the award program was fostered by the FUSION 2007 Planning Committee. “This year’s conference is focused on pedagogy. The planning committee decided to incorporate these new award categories to ensure that the award program encompasses all Desire2Learn stakeholders,” stated Barry Dahl, Chair of FUSION 2007 Planning Committee. “The conference is an excellent venue to see what other organizations are doing in Desire2Learn and to share best practices. It is truly an opportunity for all users to benefit from and learn from one another. The Desire2EXCEL Award Program is just another means to accomplish this.”

Entries for all three categories will be reviewed and judged by the planning committee. Entries will have the opportunity to be showcased at the Client Showcase. All winning groups will present at the Desire2EXCEL Award Presentations at the Fourth Annual Desire2Learn Users Conference, FUSION 2007, July 8 – 11th, Duluth, MN. Each winning group will receive a $500 honorarium.

The deadline for award nominations is March 30, 2007.
