ISO 27001 Certification Provides D2L Customers with High Level of Security Protection
D2L Incorporated—the EdTech company that created Brightspace, the world’s first truly integrated learning platform (ILP)—today announced it has achieved ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 27001 certification, an internationally-recognized standard that distinguishes information management systems which demonstrate high levels of information security controls and confidentiality.
The ISO 27001 certification is a leading global security standard and provides assurance that sufficient security frameworks and risk management processes are in place to prevent potential threats. The certification also requires companies to continuously meet these requirements in order to maintain their accreditation.
D2L received the certification after an audit, which found that the company’s security processes met industry best practices and global standards in preserving the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information while proactively managing information security risks. The audit was conducted by BSI.
“Security is of the utmost importance to our customers and we strive to provide the strongest protection possible,” said John Baker, President and CEO of D2L. “This certification reinforces the strength of D2L’s security framework and our continued dedication to exceeding these expectations year after year.”
Since its inception, D2L has implemented rigorous security measures for customers to ensure data is safe and remains confidential. These measures include security reviews accompanying each new release, regular internal reviews of data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures, and encryption and physical security measures that guard against unauthorized access to data systems.
