Working under significant time constraints, Centennial attributes successful migration to strong service commitment and delivery
Desire2Learn Incorporated (“Desire2Learn”), a leading provider of enterprise teaching and learning platforms, today announced that Toronto’s Centennial College has migrated to Desire2Learn Learning Suite, citing cost, customer service, and the caliber of the platform design as significant deciding factors.
In January of 2011, Centennial College began the process of replacing the institution’s existing learning management system (LMS). Seeking to transition to a new system in just four months, ensuring a timely and successful implementation was the key priority for the college during the selection process.
“The implementation process with Desire2Learn Learning Suite is the single best example of any implementation I have ever been part of,” remarks Michael Evans, Director, Academic Technology, Centennial College. “The team at Desire2Learn promised us that the implementation would occur on schedule and we never had one reason to doubt them. The changeover went impeccably, and with daily communication, we never once felt out of the loop.”
As the college deploys Desire2Learn Learning Suite this summer, 8,000 students are currently utilizing the system. With four campuses and seven satellite locations, Centennial College will leverage the platform for 1,000 part-time and full-time faculty members and 20,000 students come fall 2011.
The steering committee notes the thoughtfulness of the platform design in relation to student learning combined with rich, full-feature integration as two differentiating attributes of the Desire2Learn platform. Faculty and staff envision the platform as an opportunity to expand beyond traditional course management toward operational management, as part of a broader eLearning strategy that mates Desire2Learn Learning Suite with the college’s strategic direction. Additionally, Centennial College plans to utilize Desire2Learn ePortfolio to provide an enriching learning experience in a system-wide fashion.
“We share Centennial College’s commitment to fostering life-long learners through a transformative educational experience,” states John Baker, President & CEO, Desire2Learn. “With the robust and forward-looking eLearning strategy that Centennial College is in the process of implementing, Desire2Learn will undoubtedly be an important partner in making the vision come to life. By delivering learning solutions centered on increasing student engagement and performance, Desire2Learn will enable Centennial to focus on helping their students achieve the best possible results in their academic and future careers.”
“It is very rare in this industry that you deal with a company like Desire2Learn that has confidence in their product but also the ability to follow-through on it,” James Allen, Chief Information Officer, Centennial College. “The feedback from our early adopters has been universally positive. We are looking forward to leveraging the technology and actualizing our academic framework in new ways.”
