VLE 101: Getting Started

Brand new to the VLE and using it to teach summer school? Or haven’t been in for a few years? This is the session for you! We’ll cover the very basics of getting started: logging in, accessing your class, basic navigation, setup and use. The second half of this session will introduce you to a brand new one-stop-shop course all Ontario educators have access to that will guide you through everything you need to know to successfully run a class for summer school via the Virtual Learning Environment powered by D2L’s Brightspace.

Improving the Student Experience

Video conferencing tools for use in the VLE

Assessment & Evaluation in the VLE

The Virtual Learning Environment has recently launched some fantastic assessment and evaluation tools via D2L’s Brightspace platform. This session will introduce you to the Assignments tool, which enables you to create a variety of ways to collect student work and the built-in Annotations tool to give dynamic and effective feedback to students. It will also introduce you to the Rubrics tool, where you can create rubrics and attach them to your assignments, and the Portfolio tool, which allows students to easily share their learning with you in a variety of ways and formats.
