What PC Mag Had to Say About Brightspace

How does D2L’s learning management system measure up? A well-known tech magazine shares its review.

In tech, this is a pretty big deal.

It’s a bit like getting a gold star from the coolest teacher in the school.

PC Magazine — the folks who played a huge part in creating the personal computing revolution decades ago and are still going strong — gave Brightspace an “Excellent” review. They called it “one of the most comprehensive learning management systems available today.”

So, needless to say, I’m pretty pleased.

The review heaped a lot of praise on Brightspace’s recent upgrades, on its course features, on eportfolio, its overall depth and complexity, and on its mobile attributes. In particular, the review pointed out that Brightspace “stands apart from other LMS platforms in its full-throated implementation of competency-based education.” That’s especially gratifying, since CBE integration is something we’ve spent a lot of time working on.

I could go on about all the great things PC Magazine said about us — but you’ll just have to read the review for yourself.

I do, however, want to thank the folks in our company — our programmers, our designers, our planners, our managers, our sales team — everyone — for all they’ve done to build a great product. I’m proud that — together — we’ve made Brightspace the world-leading, world-educating product that it is today. I know that our success is a team effort, and I’m incredibly thankful that I get to work alongside some of the brightest minds in Ed Tech, every day.

And I also want to thank you, our customers.

You know, our product development really mirrors the way we feel about the future of learning. Just as excellent teaching is collaborative, flexible, creating and builds on the strengths of both the teacher and the learner — the development of Brightspace has really been about a partnership between D2L and our customers. We learn from you. You tell us what works and what doesn’t, how we can improve our product, or what new ideas are coming around the corner that we need to embrace — and we change.

We adapt.

And we improve.

So thank you, all of you. We wouldn’t be here without you.

And I’m excited to see where we go next, together.
