D2L is reaching more corporate learners in the UK, Europe, Middle East and South Africa as reskilling and continued professional development becomes an urgent business priority
D2L, the global learning technology leader, has announced further growth in the EMEA region, with new organisations deploying its Brightspace learning platform to make the corporate learning experience more flexible, personalised and engaging. Created for the mobile learner, Brightspace offers rich multimedia to increase learner engagement. In addition, its analytics deliver insights into the performance levels of departments, courses and individuals.
“We are seeing great levels of success and extended reach across EMEA, with more customers partnering with us to improve the learning experience and deliver the personalised learning – beyond just content consumption – that their employees, members and other stakeholders demand,” said Stewart Watts, Vice President, EMEA at D2L. “Today, corporate learning is evolving rapidly as employers need their workforce to continually upskill to stay competitive. At D2L, we have developed a future-proof learning platform for people who value employee development as a true driver of business success. As such, we are proud to see such a diverse set of organisations turning to Brightspace as a solution to the numerous and complex learning challenges that we face today.”
“As a company, we are committed to the customer relationship – and this momentum is testament to the value that we add. For us, collaboration is as important as platform innovation, and we look forward to strengthening these relationships and building upon this growth further during the year ahead.”
New Brightspace customers include:
Gazing Performance Systems, a provider of unique training programmes proven to enhance performance under pressure. Gazing selected Brightspace to enable remote learning options for its trainees and trainers, provide real-time data analytics on trainee progression, and assist it in its global mission to bring improvements in performance to a range of different industries and individuals.
- “This was an obvious choice when moving forward our plans for a more digital-focused approached to training delivery,” said Martin Fairn, CEO of Gazing. “We wanted a platform to further support our customers, rather than adding additional work for their teams, so for us, the user experience was paramount and needed to be simple and practical, just like the Gazing maps and tools. Not only does Brightspace have the capabilities and usability we need, but D2L has a real understanding of our product offering and approach. Brightspace perfectly complements Gazing’s teaching process. D2L and the Brightspace platform will assist us in creating a digital learning community of best practice.”
The European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT), a leading medical-scientific association dedicated to the promotion of knowledge associated with bone marrow transplantation and cellular therapy. EBMT chose Brightspace to provide a single platform for doctors, scientists and other practitioners in the field to collaborate and share experiences, information and techniques, as well as assist in the training of future health professionals.
- “Brightspace offers us a straightforward digital solution to better train our members and enable doctors and nurses to learn remotely in a way that fits around their busy schedules,” said Andreu Gusi, Executive Director, EBMT. “Our membership is diverse, ranging from doctors to data managers to nurses and everything in between, so the individualised learning paths and real-time data-analytics, where each user’s progress can be individually tracked and monitored ensure no one gets left behind. We feel that D2L really understands our needs, and offers us a tailored, holistic and complete solution. As an online platform, Brightspace can enable easier access to these course materials for learners. With Brightspace we can better equip our members with all the latest information on the transplantation of hematopoietic stem cells, as well as clinical research, education, standardisation, quality control and accreditation.”
Agricolleges International, a provider of affordable training courses in agricultural content and the principles of sustainable production to further food security around the world. Agricolleges selected Brightspace to provide easy access to remote, cloud-based learning to students in South Africa, Africa and across the globe. In doing so, Agricolleges found a platform that is intuitive, mobile-friendly and easy to use for a student base with relatively low computer literacy.
- “With regard to the implementation, D2L was brilliant,” said Wynand Espach, Chief Operating Officer, AgriColleges. “We would never have achieved our goals to that point as quickly, without their help. Whenever we had a problem, it was resolved within 24 hours. I cannot say enough about how grateful we are to their team. The nice thing about Brightspace is that we have been able to write our remote practical courses in a way that is easy for our students to understand what they need to submit and when. This has been life-changing for agricultural education in South Africa.”
Royal College of Physicians Ireland (RCPI), a postgraduate medical training college that offers programmes, examinations, diplomas and educational courses for doctors. RCPI selected Brightspace as part of its commitment to helping doctors enhance their skills, competencies and professionalism throughout their working lives.
- “We were delighted to see the launch of Brightspace for RCPI in July 2019,” said Dr Ann O’Shaughnessy, Head of Education and Professional Development, Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. “This new virtual learning environment offers a significant improvement to how we deliver online learning. Our core mission is to support doctors’ training, education and continuous professional development and it is now much easier for doctors to reach their full potential with the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. The team in D2L were a pleasure to work with throughout the project. A bonus for us is joining other educational institutions in using Brightspace. We now have the benefit of networking with similar organisations using Brightspace in Ireland and the UK, which is facilitated by D2L.”
D2L announced an updated version of its Brightspace platform last year, its Indigo Release, which empowers employees to take control of their own learning paths in a competitive global economy. New features were introduced to improve engagement, motivate employees with impactful feedback and help learning professionals make data-driven decisions. Together, this gives employers and employees the tools they need to create a learning culture that is critical to today’s corporate success.
The company also seamlessly moved customers to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud, to deliver more frequent and automatic enhancements without disruption or downtime, reduced complexity of infrastructure technology, better overall stability and numerous feature improvements to the core platform.
