Fusion 2016 Takes Washington by Storm

  • 2 Min Read

Building the future of learning is not something D2L is doing on its own. We’re inspired by the work that you do. Check out some of the highlights of how we’re celebrating you – the amazing teachers and leaders who touch the lives of learners every day.

“The future of learning sounds like something that’s still far away – but it’s already happening. The ideas pushing boundaries, the technology changing lives, and the heroes making a difference.”

This was the opening line from the video that kicked off this year’s event, and it quite accurately set the tone for what to expect for the rest of the day.

With a total of 1,000 educators from around the world, 30 partners, and 150 breakout sessions focusing on hot topics such as competency-based education (CBE), learning engagement, analytics, and many more – this year’s event truly has been a place where the brightest minds meet.

There were more than a few Fusion veterans walking around the show floor and it was nice catching up with familiar faces, but we were also happy to see that at least 25% of attendees this year were here learning about D2L for the very first time.

The day started with an opening keynote from D2L’s CMO Renny Monaghan with a special welcome from CEO, John Baker. Following shortly after was a variety of breakout sessions featuring more than a 100 expert speakers.

Even the infamous D2L Moose made an appearance (more than a few times). Here are a few highlights of the day, starting with the keynote:

The gamification and CBE sessions were a hit!

An inspiring story…

The first day of Fusion ended on an inspirational note, and with a few laughs. Sir Ken Robinson, an internationally acclaimed expert on creativity and innovation, TED Talk speaker, and bestselling author delivered an incredibly motivating keynote speech that brought the audience to their feet.

Our clients inspire us to keep innovating, and they sure know how to have a good time…

Even the D2L Moose needed a break from all the fun, and that was only day one. Today we have the Solutions Spotlight and a keynote from Angela Maiers – check back for more updates for day two of Fusion 2016!
