Six Colleges Are Rolling Out D2L’s Easy, Flexible and Smart Learning Platform for Collaborative Program Delivery
D2L, a global learning technology leader, is proud to announce that a consortium of six colleges in northern Ontario will deploy the Brightspace platform as its learning management system (LMS) for collaborative program delivery. The six colleges in the consortium are Collège Boréal, Cambrian College, Canadore College, Confederation College, Northern College and Sault College.
Following an extensive review of learning management systems, D2L’s Brightspace LMS was unanimously selected by all six colleges. The consortium chose Brightspace due to its innovative approach to delivering online courses that supports blended learning and flipped classroom models, in addition to the flexibility that will allow each college to maintain its unique culture of learning while sharing course programming with other colleges. Brightspace’s ability and experience to easily integrate additional technology solutions, including single sign-on capabilities and a student information system, was another differentiating factor. Each college will have the option to move its entire campus to Brightspace as part of the rollout.
“Residents of northern Ontario are often challenged to find the training, education and skills development programs they need without being forced to leave their communities. To address this, we needed a partner that could drive technology-enabled learning and access to post-secondary education across our schools. In addition, this project would not have been possible without the support of the Ministry for Advanced Education and Skills Development, Ontario,” said Audrey Penner, VPA at Northern College. “With Brightspace, we will be able to offer broad access to quality education that will not only help to grow our local economies, but also help our students be better prepared to compete as part of the global economy.”
“D2L’s learning environment makes it easy for instructors to roll-out compelling learning activities and personalize learning experiences for students near and far, keeping them engaged, and on track for success,” said John Baker, CEO of D2L. “We applaud the Northern Colleges Collaborative Programming Project of Ontario for their unique approach to providing every learner with high quality programming and learning opportunities and for helping their communities to thrive.”
