Supporting best practice through knowledge sharing
9-10 October 2019, 9am–1pm (GMT)
University College Dublin
Belfield, Dublin 4, Ireland
D2L, together with University College Dublin (UCD), is delighted to bring its flagship European event, D2L Connection, to Dublin on 9-10 October and we hope to see you there. This, the fourth edition of the annual event, provides a perfect opportunity for learning instructors and administrators from education and enterprise to gain practical skills in learning platform course design, implementation and administration. Also, attendees will hear from expert users of D2L’s Brightspace platform and be able to network with like-minded educators from Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
This year, the event is on a bigger scale than before with a packed programme across two days. There’s something for everyone with sessions covering technology integration, instructor enablement, learner engagement, learner progress reporting, and platform administration and innovation.
Bettina Schlass, Customer Success Manager at D2L, says: “D2L Connection provides an ideal space for educators and learning administrators to get together, share best practice and discover the full potential of the platform to deliver the best possible learner experiences. From those who are new to tech-enabled learning to seasoned users of the Brightspace platform, there will be opportunities to discover something new and to pick up tips on delivering learning outcomes.”
Previous attendees of D2L Connection have valued the opportunity to learn from other Brightspace users, as Erna Kotkamp of TU Delft University explains: “An event like this is very useful because you talk to other people who are either just starting to use Brightspace, or have been using it for a long time, and they give tips and tricks and we can exchange experiences.”
D2L’s experts will also be on-hand to find out from you how you use Brightspace, listen to your feedback and answer any questions you have about the platform. They will also lead a series of sessions and discussions exploring workplace learning and apprenticeships, learner engagement, and using the reporting and assessment tools. Meanwhile, across the two days, knowledgeable customers of the Brightspace platform will share their insights including:
- Dr Sharleen O’Reilly of UCD who will explore the topic of student feedback – how providing tangible areas for improvement helps students progress and how to implement -practical measures to achieve this
- Dr Sue Folley and Professor John Allport from the University of Huddersfield in the UK will talk about the learning platform as a catalyst for change and the successful approach they took to support staff so they can make best use of the technology
- Margie Grob of TU Delft in the Netherlands will provide insights into how the university implemented ‘Brightspace Matrix’ – a tool that helps instructors deep dive into their current use of the platform and provides pointers on how they could use it even further to deliver learning outcomes
- Professor Rhona Sharpe and Julia Brennan from the University of Surrey in the UK will talk about a recent research project they conducted into using data from Brightspace to give students insights on how they’re using the platform and what else they could do for effective study.
We hope to see you at D2L Connection. For all the information you need and to register, please visit our events page . D2L has created this free event for leaders and decision-makers within a technology enhanced learning team to network and explore new and upcoming e-learning trends.
