Big Picture Pedagogy by Te Kura

Duration: 42 minutes

Chris Lawrence, Manager of Creative Services, Te Kura
Jenny Brookes, Learning Systems Lead, Te Kura

Big Picture pedagogy is one of the deeper learning methodologies that align student’s interests and passions to learning outcomes and delivers enriched personalised experience by helping them to develop key skills like, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills. Teachers must first understand the student’s interests and passion and then build their teaching styles to develop learner’s knowledge and desired results.

In this on-demand webinar, learn how Te Kura School:

  • Adapted the definition and context of the Big Picture model
  • Implemented the Big Picture pedagogy in real-life learning through the Brightspace platform
  • Expanded their success through mapping it to the New Zealand curriculum

Hear about the different Big Picture philosophies adopted by the school management and learn what their students and teachers say about the Big Picture pedagogy’s role in their growth and development.

Watch out for our other webinar sessions on Survival tips for Running Remote Examinations and How Victoria University Revisioned Their Curriculum When They Successfully Implemented the Block Model after watching this.

This session was presented in the Fusion 2020 organised by D2L in September. You might be keen to register for Fusion 2021 – click here for information.
