As a Trainer/Consultant you will lead new client implementation projects across all verticals (Higher Education, Corporate, K12). Being the client's primary point of contact, you will work closely with Sales, Customer Success, and other Services departments to ensure that each client is prepared and enabled for their launch.

As a Project Manager/Consultant you will lead new client implementation projects across all verticals (Higher Education, Corporate, K12).  Being the client's primary point of contact, you will work closely with Sales, Customer Success, and other Services departments to ensure that each client is prepared and enabled for their launch.  

The role has responsibilities that traverse a broad spectrum of technical, business, and project accountability including: project management, requirements facilitation, business analysis, technical solution design, and solution implementation.  You can expect to be managing multiple projects concurrently at any given time, and you will be expected to manage and implement projects from initiation to final operational stage.  You will lead empowered, matrixed, virtual teams that includes D2L, the Client and potentially 3rd party personnel.   

This is a very project-oriented role and most of the tasks completed in this role would be considered billable.  You should be able to work flexible hours as required, and travel may be required. 


  • Oversees the implementation of a number of small and large projects to clients that are running concurrently at any given time 
  • Leads the project team in determining client requirements and translating requirements into operational plans
  • Develops and manages project plans, and obtains appropriate client and D2L approvals; this includes managing project schedules and budgets 
  • Identifies and assembles the appropriate blend of resources to meet project needs and requirements, and manages sub-contractors as required
  • Manages project communications, including regular status review meetings among project team members and clients, and prepares supporting project status reports
  • Uses project control procedures to manage changes to the agree plan, including timescales, scope, and budget 
  • Identifies and assesses risks, severity and impacts; determines and implements risk mitigation strategies and agrees them with the client and internal to D2L as appropriate.
  • Promotes a ‘win/win’ attitude with the client
  • Conducts project retrospectives / lessons learned, as appropriate
  • Ensures D2L/ client adherence to legally binding requirements
  • Assesses client technical readiness and plan software installation and configuration
  • Requirements analysis with clients to establish an implementation and configuration plan for the solution.
  • Propose, design, develop, and deploy standard product as well as custom technical solutions.
  • Design, configure, and deploy integration solutions between enterprise systems such as the D2L suite of products and Student Information Systems.
  • Support client acceptance testing of deployed solutions.
  • Keep up to date with new technology trends to help facilitate client learning solutions.
  • Occasionally works with Sales organization on project proposals, bids, contracts, and estimates
  • Uses Project Management methodologies as applied at D2L


  • Has minimum 3 years’ experience Professional Services project management, including delivering client software implementations throughout the end-to-end project lifecycle 
  • Strong knowledge of the practices, procedures and principles of project management, with the ability to handle many small projects at one time or a few medium-sized concurrent projects
  • Working with technologies such as:
  • AWS
  • API integrations
  • Single Sign-On/Web Authentication
  • Business Intelligence tools (i.e. Tableau, Power BI)
  • XML
  • SQL
  • Has minimum 3 years’ experience working with Internet technologies, Web 2.0 concepts, Software as a Service (SaaS), and familiar with Enterprise principles of Scalability and Reliability
  • Confident and knowledgeable in Information Technology, including systems development lifecycle, business modelling, systems architecture and integrations 
  • Working knowledge of enterprise solution implementation to business customers
  • Comfortable in communicating with a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders to derive requirements 
  • Very strong organizational skills
  • Works proactively and independently
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Prince2 or PMP certification considered an asset
  • Bachelor’s degree in either Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline required
