As part of the Finance department, you will be a key thought leader regarding equity administration by helping to manage and scale D2L’s global equity program. You will be the first member of the equity team, and will be instrumental in defining equity management processes and workflows. JOB SUMMARY:
As part of the Finance department, you will be a key thought leader regarding equity administration by helping to manage and scale D2L’s global equity program. You will be the first member of the equity team, and will be instrumental in defining equity management processes and workflows. You will interact regularly with our Finance, Legal, and People and Culture teams. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic professional with the proven ability to deliver effective results.

HOW WILL I MAKE AN IMPACT?

  • Manage all aspects of the Company’s long-term incentive equity program which includes, but is not limited to, stock options and restricted stock units (RSU’s)
  • Assist with the implementation of Shareworks, as applicable, and manage the day-to-day activities related to equity administration in the Shareworks equity administration platform
  • Own the integrity and accuracy of equity data including the capitalization table
  • Process all activity including grants, exercises, and share issuances
  • Maintain accurate participant data, terminations, and track employee mobility, flagging tax implications, and other items as required
  • Ensure global equity reporting and compliance with international tax and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions
  • Work with Legal and Finance teams to perform monthly, quarterly and annual activity reconciliations that may drive equity vesting events, bonus programs and other variable compensation plans
  • Develop and support an incredible participant experience including addressing participant inquiries, creating and managing educational materials, offering equity presentations and maintaining our internal equity FAQ
  • Create grant files and set up grant documents and acceptance process for new hires, promotions and ongoing grants
  • Create and implement efficient and scalable processes, system automation and integrations for equity administration, reporting, global tax compliance and mobility
  • Serve as liaison between D2L and third party vendor partners on all equity-related issues including exercises, Insider trades, data transmission errors, and daily inquiries
  • Prepare equity summary for board meetings to include new grants for new hires, refresh and promotions
  • Audit and manage user permissions, roles and sharing rules
  • Partner with the Finance and Payroll teams on all global payroll and corporate reporting obligations, including audits; ensure they are met on time
  • Support the Financial Reporting team with their monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, ensuring that the expensing data is provided in both an accurate and timely manner
  • Collaborate with the People and Culture team to assist with other compensation related projects, including annual total rewards processes, special incentives plans and market related activities

WHAT WILL YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience with stock administration and/or restricted stock units (RSU’s)
  • Strong working knowledge of equity plans and various equity types
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with high-level executives as well as front-line employees
  • Advanced Excel, Word, presentation software skills
  • Extensive experience with Shareworks is a strong asset
  • Ability to pivot between equity administration, participant equity education, global equity compliance and equity taxation with proven
  • experience scaling equity at a fast-growing company
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under strict deadlines with meticulous attention to detail
  • Familiarity with global compliance and tax
  • Experience administering equity plans globally including Canada, United States, and Europe
  • Experience with the expensing and financial reporting of share awards
  • Experience in valuing different types of share awards

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent in accounting, finance or business preferred
  • Certified Equity Professional designation preferred
