The Big Reveal: D2L Teams up with ISTE U

Finally I can tell you the big news: D2L has partnered with ISTE to launch ISTE U, their new professional learning hub.

The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) serves teachers, administrators, staff and educators worldwide — and they’ve chosen Brightspace to drive their newly launched venture called ISTE U — a home for online courses on digital citizenship, computational thinking, artificial intelligence, personalized learning and more.

ISTE is well known for their annual conference, happening this week in Chicago, which draws about 15,000 people from all over North America. They announced the launch of ISTE U to offer members and non-members more opportunities to learn year-round. Joseph South, chief learning officer at ISTE and his team spent quite a bit of time assessing and planning the development of ISTE U. For them, D2L stood out as a nimble partner who could innovate with them to provide unique, high-quality professional learning experiences for educators.

We are incredibly pleased that ISTE U – which will serve tens of thousands of educators in K-12 across North America — will be powered by D2L. It’s a match made in heaven. Their mission — which is to “inspire educators worldwide to use technology to innovate teaching and learning, accelerate good practice and solve tough problems in education by providing community, knowledge and the ISTE Standards, a framework for rethinking education and empowering learners” — aligns closely with our own mission to transform the way the world learns. Because both organizations are so focused on similar goals, we feel that learners will ultimately be the real beneficiaries of this partnership.

The partnership is also a great way to give thousands of educators the opportunity to use Brightspace for their own personal use. I know that by partnering with ISTE, we will be able to learn more from our users and work to create an even stronger platform in the future.
