SPC Brasil chooses Brightspace by D2L as their teaching and learning platform

Brightspace was selected for being the only platform to fully meet their security requirements.

D2L, a world leader in education technology, has announced that SPC Brasil, a credit and information company that serves over 2,000 entities and 1 million associates, has selected a new learning platform to meet their greater security, management, and content curation needs.

SPC Brasil (Brazil’s Credit Protection Service) first implemented distance learning in 2013, in a highly successful initiative with great engagement levels. “In 2017, given how mature the distance learning modality had become for Corporate Learning, we identified the need to switch our platform in order to enhance our security, management, and content curation and distribution capabilities,” said Silvana Guimarães, Training Manager at SPC Brasil. “Every month, SPC Brasil’s system is accessed 50 million times to retrieve individual and corporate data, so security was our foremost assessment criterion for choosing a new learning platform. Brightspace was the only LMS to fully meet this requirement.”

Brightspace’s tools and intuitive design make it possible to easily create new content or import existing materials – a capability that was also important for SPC Brasil. The platform’s Virtual Classrooms also enable the use of web conferencing and live classes, which are automatically recorded and integrated into the course, without the need for specialized classrooms or knowledge by the team.

“We have a team that’s in charge of developing our content, but Brightspace made the process easier so that teachers themselves can quickly and conveniently create videos and make them available to learners. Another commonly used feature are the live classes, as it’s important for us to maintain this type of online interaction, and the recorded content is easily accessible by learners at any time,” said Silvana Guimarães. “We’ve received very positive feedback from students regarding their satisfaction with the platform, and that’s very gratifying.”

As SPC Brasil has operations across Brazil, bandwidth limitations in remote locations can represent an obstacle to the use of the diverse set of materials available within the Brightspace platform. However, “once the distance learning modality is up and running, we will encourage students to use the mobile app (Pulse) in order to access and engage with their learning content offline,” she adds.

“SPC Brasil has been supporting and promoting economic development in Brazil for 60 years. Our partnership demonstrates how important access to learning and professional training are to this continuous development,” said Peterson Theodorovicz, Regional Director for Brazil, D2L. “D2L is a market leader in virtual education, and we believe learning is the foundation of all progress.”

With over 60 years on the market, SPC Brasil has one of the most complete databases in Latin America, including credit information from both individuals and businesses. It is the innovation platform created by Sistema CNDL (Brazil’s main representative network for the retail industry) to empower companies with credit knowledge and information, digital identity and business solutions. Its services provide shared benefits for society by assisting in the decision-making process and promoting access to credit. It is also an authority on research, analysis and indicators that map the behavior of the Brazilian market, consumers and businesspeople, thereby contributing to the country’s economic development.
