Here’s some information on how ISTE U can provide professional learning

Great digital citizens are those that think critically when it comes to using online sources for information. They are the champions of respectful communication and they make smart choices that enable learning. Great teachers of digital citizenship are champions of technology and learning and are committed to helping students navigate through digital spaces. We’re so excited to be part of the campaign to shine the spotlight on the needs of teachers and students where digital citizenship is concerned. The Internet is an amazing source of inspiration, engaging information, and a tool for research that helps students along their learning path. This is why it’s so important that educators understand the power of digital learning, and embrace it in a way that truly adds value to their students’ education.

How to be a leader in teaching digital citizenship

As teachers, using technology in the classroom has given you access to an enormous set of tools with which to teach in a way you know is effective. Reaching students using engaging content is part of that strategy to keep students excited about their studies. This is why we think it’s important to spread the word that learning technology can be a perfect companion (and added tool) that teachers can use to their benefit. Are you already an advocate for education technology in the classroom? Then you’re probably quite aware of the importance of teaching digital citizenship. This week is a great time to spread that awareness around a bit and encourage students, parents and guardians, and faculty to support your school’s students in their digital lives.

ISTE U provides professional learning

We’re excited to promote the fact that The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) now offers a variety of online courses designed to empower K-12 teachers through professional learning. We highly encourage you to check out their many courses, including:

  • Selecting the Right Tech Solutions for Your Classroom
  • Artificial Intelligence Explorations and Their Practical Use in Schools
  • Digital Citizenship in Action

In celebration of Digital Citizenship week, ISTE U is offering a 15% discount if you enroll through October 2018. And if you’re already an ISTE member, the cost is even lower. Good luck this week and have fun with your students!
