Going Global with the Integrated Learning Platform

  • 2 Min Read

If you’ve ever heard me speak, you’ll know that one of the best aspects of my job – one that I always look forward to talking about – is the opportunity I have to travel the world and hear stories about how innovation and technology have shaped teaching and learning. These are the opportunities where I get to become the student and immerse myself in a new culture to gain new insights and perspectives. Experiential learning at its best.

Just over two weeks ago, I had the pleasure to travel to Australia to visit some of our client locations and attend a Desire2Learn Ignite event in Melbourne. This event included two and half days of breakout sessions, hands-on sessions, discussion panels, demos, keynotes, and social networking with clients from Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand. This was our second Asia Pacific Ignite conference and we had a great mix of both K-12 and Higher Education clients who shared some incredibly creative stories about how they’re leveraging the Desire2Learn platform to help them improve the learning experience.

As I listened to our clients share stories about student engagement, personalising learning for classes of nearly two thousand students, tools for reflective journaling, and the real outcome of learning outcomes, I was struck by the versatility and openness that our clients have found using our platform. Clients were able to talk about using the tools inherent to the platform but were also able to showcase custom tools they have built to integrate with it. This is the promise of our integrated learning platform, and a reflection of our vision for how technology in education can help to provide the tools and support for teachers, instructors, and organizations to transform learning.

That the delegates really embraced this vision, the shift from a “one-size-fits-all” model to a “one-size-fits-me” approach, and the promise of a personal learning experience – this was wonderful to see.

It was an awesome event, and a chance for many amazing interactions with clients and prospects from all over Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. I am already looking forward to the next visit!

Ignite regional user forums are coming to a place near you this fall.  I hope to see you all there.
