“Reach every learner.”
Those three words from CEO, John Baker’s keynote rang through on Day 2 of Fusion, as members of the senior team unveiled the latest updates to Brightspace.
At the heart of all the upgrades and new features is the on-going commitment to reach every learner. Cheryl Ainoa, COO at D2L, highlighted Daylight’s responsive design as mobile continues to become an important part of the learning experience.
“If you’re a student with an older hand-me-down phone there may not even be a version [of the institution’s LMS] available for you. That is not the way to reach every learner,” she said.
“Brightspace is fully responsive on the web – it works all the time, on every device.”
Along with responsive design, Brightspace is connecting young students with both teachers and their parents with the new Portfolio app for K-12.

As Baker, mentioned in his keynote on Day 1, “learning has become a business priority”, and we are “enabling the transformation of learning in the workplace.”
The latest update delivers a new manager dashboard that makes it easy for people leaders to manage their employees’ learning, from the first day to continuous training.
Aside from all the exciting product demonstrations, the day was packed with numerous sessions, networking, and more selfies. Here are some of the highlights from Day 2:
