Deloitte Recognizes D2L as one of the Best Managed Companies

At D2L, we believe that progress is about people and our technology has been developed over the last fourteen years to deliver on the promise of a brighter future through better learning. This is the vision I had when I started D2L in 1999, and ever since then we’ve been carefully building the company to help turn that vision into a reality.
deloitte-best-managed-companies1D2L has been recognized again this year as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies by Deloitte, the country’s leading business award program. This is a fantastic honour. The award recognizes overall business performance, sustained growth, and the efforts of the entire organization to further our goals. An award like this provides a great opportunity for us to reflect. When I think about D2L’s journey, a few things come to mind. The early startup years that required us to persevere and stay focused on our vision. The relationships we’ve built— with over 1100 clients with over 98% client retention year after year and now more than 13 million users of D2L products and services today. The partnerships that have enabled us to further accelerate our growth. Our ability to serve a global market. In the last two years, D2L has expanded its global footprint with offices in Melbourne, London, Sao Paulo, Singapore, Boston, St. John’s and Vancouver.

But most importantly, I think about the people. In the last four years, we have grown from a team of 140 staff to over 750 full-time employees. These are some of the most passionate, creative, and collaborative individuals that I’ve had the good fortune to work with. As an organization that creates technology to support a better learning experience, we’re also focused on enhancing our own corporate learning culture. I consider using our own technology to help employees improve and grow with the organization to be one of our most important goals. I’m truly inspired when I think about what this group of individuals can achieve.

I’d like to congratulate my fellow D2L’ers, our clients, and our partners on this great accomplishment. Our success wouldn’t be possible without their commitment and hard work!
