As technology evolves over time, it is important to reflect on privacy and security practices that come with that evolution. That is why D2L supports the Future of Privacy Forum (FPF) and the Software and Information Industry Association’s (SIIA) review and update of the Student Privacy Pledge.
Since the launch of the pledge in 2014, student data privacy has become a centerpiece of the discussion around the use and benefit of technology in the classroom. This latest review sets out the public commitments and private actions the technology industry should be taking to align with expectations of schools, parents, and students in 2020 — and with the many student privacy laws that have been passed in the last six years.
Just as D2L was one of the early signatories of the original pledge, we are proud to sign the Student Privacy Pledge 2020, too.
This is just the latest in a long series of actions D2L has taken to ensure our customers and their students are protected. We will continue to act as technology continues to evolve. To learn more about how we protect the privacy and security of student data, I encourage you to visit our privacy center.
