The ANA and TSO along with D2L were awarded as industry leaders in innovation.

Innovative partnerships between D2L and the American Nurses Association (ANA) as well as the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) have been recognized as award-winning entries amongst a competitive set of applications at this year’s CLO Learning in Practice awards.

The Learning in Practice Awards, now in its 16th year, recognizes top industry leaders who excel in the design and delivery of employee learning and development programs. This year’s event took place at the CLO Symposium Fall 2018 in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Nancy Robert, EVP and chief product and marketing officer with the ANA, was awarded Gold in Division 2 of the Innovation Award. The Innovation Award is presented to learning executives who have applied innovative practices, process and or technologies in a new and groundbreaking way to address a significant business or organizational opportunity.

In their mission to make learning more engaging, personalized, and easier to access, the ANA leveraged D2L’s modern learning platform, Brightspace, to revamp the organization’s professional development programs. By using the capabilities within Brightspace, ANA worked together with D2L to create content curation modules, stream webinars through Capture™, D2L’s video software, and integrate gamification features such as badging and quizzes to further encourage learner engagement.

Transforming Continuing Education for America’s Nurses

A partnership between D2L and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra was also recognized by the Learning in Practice Awards. D2L was awarded Bronze in the Excellence in Technology Innovation category for creating a custom interactive video player to help the TSO encourage Canadian students and teachers to tune into Canada’s musical heritage.

Working in close collaboration with D2L’s Learning and Creative Services team to create the interactive video platform, the TSO was able to accomplish its mission to inspire and educate Canadians about classical and orchestral music. The partnership has enabled the TSO to digitally broaden its reach and create an engaging and accessible means of extending musical education beyond the classroom.
